got some emails lately, people interested at shows, etc. about some of the instruments we play.
lawrence plays the electric washboard. its very simple but adds a ton to our sound and rhythm. theres a song on THE BRONZE AGE collection that features the washboard vs. the theremin. it sounds like whale songs.
and yes lawrence built it himself.

the theremin is played by phil. everyone knows what a theremin is, or at least i thought they did, but it looks like some are up to speed and are living pre-war.
for info on this, just use www.google.com
and yes, phil built it himself, provided with parts and schematics from big briar (bob moog)

the electric didley bow is played by velcro. its a one stringed bass. mounted on a 2 x 4, and played with a slide. it mounts on a mic stand or can be played in your lap!
velcro prefers flat wound string and a glass slide and plays with a stick, rock or finger picks (like a pedal steel)
its an instrument thats been around forever, velcro only made his.

unseen monsters:
on occossaion, paully rocco will play his  home-made lap steel. its a thing of beauty as only master craftsman Rocco could create. the lap steel is featured on Dog Catchin Woman, which will be on our next record, White Magick Summer.

the cleaver is a 3 stringed triangular zither type instrument that Velcro built. it has never been used live due to technical problems. soon it will be up there in the mix!

and! Rocco has taken on a two string didley bow model for Velcro. maybe this summer it'll be up and runnin'

I will post photos soon, maybe short videos too, but for the time being, I hope this has been helpful!

Man, I really need to finish my solar-powered glockenspiel with sympathetic drone strings. That or my sac-bladder pump organ.
