The previous post is to be continued later..

I was just sitting in front of my computer after a refreshing bath, when i
realised the most disturbing thing at the moment was the silence, so i just
started looking for music to listen to. I was not in the mood for ambient, so i
passed over these recently downloaded albums, and then i found a Roy Hargrove
album, Distractions. An inner voice started rejoicing, because i knew, i love
this one.
They call their style a mixture of hip-hop and bebop, one not really into this
music would say it's r'n'b or soul because of the vocals, but to me, the most
important ingredient in this mixture is funk.
The way they swing the beat is soo great, and it's quite a hard thing to play
live, they do it very sharp. And what's worse, there are two drummers on some
tunes! One drummer is a nightmare in itself, but two?? I'm not going for
drummer-jokes here, but who ever played in a band knows what i'm talking about.
So two drummers, and they play together, and they don't play too much, which is
also a hard thing to achieve with drummers. On the title track, (which is cut
into 4 pieces) you can hear who these musicians share space, and how much
effort is made in making this record. There's a rhodes player, a hammond
player, a guitarist, a Roy plays the trumpet, a sax, bass, vocals, and
sometimes there's a synthetizer. And two drums, as before mentioned. And all
these people share the time so delicately, appreciating every single note
played. So thats wonderful. And, this is the kind of music, that affects me
immediately. I just hear one bar of this groove, and will shout, hey, this is
good music. So it happens all the time, that people show you music they love,
or you just read critics of music that is said to be good, you listen to it,
and upon listening, you try to find why it is so good, you try collecting
positive things about it, and in the end you stand up saying, ok, this was
good, but you won't ever listen to it. And on the other hand, there is music
that is good in the instant, it's like love maybe, love at first sight :)
I had the previous disc of Hargrove, and this new one differs from the old that
it's much tighter. It's not as colorful, but as i said earlier, there is not a
single note that is unnecessary. So if you want some tight funk with beautiful
sounds and vocals, then check this one. I wonder though when will they come to
Hungary?
