Though their recent Perdition Records release is the first time Scott or John hasappeared on record, the two Accomplices bring a
lifetime of experience to this album, though less than
you'd expect from two gentlemen on the wrong side of
forty. Scott honed his vocal chops on the high school
stage, where, as a last-minute replacement in a
production of Oklahoma, he first gained local fame
when he brought an unexpected dimension to the role of
Ado Annie. Since then, his skill at tying a bowtie has
made him a welcome addition to glee clubs across the
country. When John was four years old, doctors
pronounced him tone deaf, and a career in music seemed
an impossibility. But after a series of expensive
operations, he is now able to distinguish an oboe from
a French horn if you give him three tries and a cookie
when he gets it right. John's most memorable job was
as the sparring partner for a boxing kangaroo named
Mr. Moriarty. "Every night I had to get in the ring
and take a dive while yokels jeered at me and cheered
for the kangaroo. Finally I couldn't take it anymore.
I had a few before the fight, just enough to convince
me to do what I'd wanted to do all along, and I went
in there swinging—I was going to do some damage before
they pulled me off him. And the marsupial son of a
bitch put me on the canvas in the second round."
