Hey there in the land of ones and zeros!!
Here's hopin' that your 4th of July was a good one. Ours was a crazy
one for sure! Friday night started out our weekend at the Popcorn
Tavern with the San Francisco band Antioquia, and a great night was had
by all! It's always nice to come back to our old stompin grounds in the
wonderful city of La Crosse.
We arrived early at the Draught Haus on the 4th of July so we could get
set up early and have some dinner. After we ate, we went back to the
Draught Haus for a brief sound check. As we cleared the stage after we
were done, Eric, our beloved guitarist, rolled his ankle on the side of
my cable box, breaking his ankle! After making the decision to send him
to the hospital (thanks again, Kirby!!) out thoughts then turned to the
show that needed to be played. So, while Eric was being X-Rayed, we
were rockin' as a trio (Jack, Reed, and I, a.k.a. HUMPERDINK). We were
eventually joined by our horns, Jim, Will and Jeremy and finished out
the set. Eric returned with a splint and crutches about ten minutes
after the first set was over, and he played out the rest of the night
in a chair, switching his pedals with his left foot! In his honor, we
all rocked chairs for a few tunes as well. What a trooper!!
Unfortunately, we also found out that Eric will need surgery. It's with
regret that we must announce that we are rescheduling our Saturday
night show at the Mabel Tainter Theater in Menomonie so stay tuned for
updates.
On the other hand, both Rochester shows will be happening. Check us out
at Kathy's Pub on Friday from 10 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. and the St. John's Block Party at 1:15 p.m. on the 11th!
Peace, and see you soon!
