Jeremiah 31:3 “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving kindness.’” Do you have enough romance in your life? Would you like romance in your life? Romantic novels bring in over a billion dollars each year, and they make up thirty-nine percent of all fiction written and sold. Lest you think that’s just a fetish of the world, romantic stories are also the most popular genre of Christian fiction. It’s apparent that we all thirst for a little romance in our lives; the problem is we aren’t sure how to get it. We confuse romance for lust, and lust for love. We try to fill our romantic need with all sorts of things that ultimately prove to be unfulfilling. When you reach that point, it’s time to turn to God. There is no greater romance than our relationship with God. If you look through the Bible, the way God feels for us is incredibly romantic. He has done everything possible, even to sacrificing his own son on our behalf, so that we might have a love relationship with God. History is filled with great romances; Romeo and Juliet, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, my wife and I; but the greatest romance of all is that of an Almighty God wooing his beloved creation. God loves you, and when you enjoy a relationship with him, you will experience what romance truly is. Doesn’t that sound like good news?
