Formed back in 2001, four piece The Ransack has been getting the focus in the
Portuguese Metal scene, since their release of “Azrael”, their
debut album from 2007 that helped the band to get some fuzz around
and got them to play dozens of gigs, some of them as support act of
international bands like Primordial, Dismember and others.

Formed by Shore (Guitar and Vocals), Jay (Bass) and Zeus (Drums) the band
saw Loki take place on the guitar just in time for the recordings of
“Azrael” and after the old formation release a demo (
Chaotic
from 2002), and an Ep (Necropolis from 2005).

With “Azrael” the band reached popularity and got on the tops of best
album of the year in various publications and webzines.

An year and an half on the road marked the promotion for “Azrael”
and just after that, the four piece got into studio to record a new
CD with some guests that included Rui Duarte (from RAMP, one of the
biggest names in the country), Pedro Mendes "Pete"
(Ultrasound Studio Producer), Bete (from Necris Dust on vocals) and
the violin of Barbara Carvalho (from Godog)

As the first album, “Vortex” was also recorded in the Ultrassound
Studios with producer Daniel Cardoso (Sirius, Head Control System…)
who worked with names as Corpus Christii and Ava Inferi. The new
album features 10 powerful tracks from the opening “Chaos” to the
melodic “Play Me When I’m Dead”!

Vortex” is a more mature album, and the band hopes it will open new ways to
them, speciall
y outside Portugal!

In 2009 The Ransack also became the only Portuguese band endorsed by Ibanez and Tama.
