In the last 12 months I..ve had to say goodbye to 4 Australian musicians, Jacki Orzarsky, John Young, Michael Kenny and now Wayne Goodwin. All friends and players who have inspiered and encouraged me along the way. They will all be sorley missed by all of us who loved them and their music.

27th March 1950 - 15th December 2008

R.I.P. 

 
WAYNE GOODWIN - Entertainer, musician, composer and orchestrator passed peacefully
at 6.05 pm today, 15th December 2008, at the Mater Hospital in North Sydney -
surrounded by his closest family and friends.  Wayne had been waging war on the
lymphoma that had engulfed his body for the past 18 months and had fought an
incredible fight.

Oh, Shane...I was absolutely STUNNED to read this (so much so, I couldn't even Comment)! As I don't gig anymore, I don't always know what's going on with some of the session musos I've used. I knew Wayne was ill but the last I heard, he was in remission. I am so sorry to hear. Wayne did some fiddle tracks for me and he was AMAZING! Though I didn't know him well, I found myself in tears...That speaks volumes for the man he was and the impression he made.
The Music Industry has lost a TRUE MAESTRO! CJx

What a loss! Wayne and I worked together in L.A. on sessions and in bands that worked literally every night of the week in the late 70's and early 80's. He played fiddle, piano and saxophone, and excelled in musicality on each instrument. Sang too! He left our band to join Emmylou Harris's Hot Band. More than a great musician, Wayne was a delightful and hilarious companion and mate, a joy to know and a pleasure to have spent the years with. God bless and keep you, Wayne.

I am very sad to hear of the passing of Wayne. We worked together in Calif in the early to mid 70's with jerry Miller and the usual Santa Cruz / Monterey players before I came to NV. He was a very funny guy and when he played the tenor
 

sax.. it was hilarious. I'll still play the old recordings we did together now and again. Wayne ole pal..Rest in peace. Mike
