The Sammy J Report - March 2009
Hello dudes!
OK, it's time to get serious. I know you're all looking at your screens right now going "That Sammy J, he's all nowhere to be seen for three months then suddenly it's festival time and he's like ooooh you're my best friend", but seriously - you ARE my best friend. Or at least one of them. Or an acquaintance.
The fact is, I've been busy badgering away at little comedy projects, the results of which I take great pleasure in sharing with you today. First up we have the mildly-anticipated, long-time-coming, brand new album!

For those of you who climbed on board the Wagon of Friendship at the Spiegeltent in Melbourne a few months ago, you might just hear yourself on this one. It's my first full-length album with nineteen tracks, including "Backwards", "Duets", and at last a proper recorded version of The Fingering Song (which Youtube just banned - yay a controversy!). Plus it's got a duet with the beautiful Ali McGregor, and another one with the less beautiful but hugely affectionate Randy.
And best of all? It's available NOW on iTunes. Shit yeah! Welcome to the future. I believe it will cost you $16.99, which is not as cheap as ten bucks but certainly cheaper than $50, which evens things out. The current alternatives to purchasing the album on iTunes are listening to 30 second grabs on repeat for free, or coming and buying a hard copy in a sexy digipack at the Adelaide Fringe or Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Which brings me to my next project ...

At some point in every artist's career, they decide it's time to sit back in a large comfy rocking chair and reflect on their youth. I have rather presumptively skipped fifty years or so and have decided to do the memoir show at the tender age of twenty-five. I doubt playing myself as a fifteen year old would be quite as believable in my eighties.
It's a show for everyone who's ever been fifteen, at school, and either popular or unpopular (pretty broad, I grant you). It's also a musical, with all new songs and some rather ridiculous dancing. It would be an absolute pleasure to have your company. It's in Adelaide until the 26th March, Melbourne 2nd-26th April, or if you're reading this in Edinburgh - hold tight til August.
Also, if I may recommend one other show to see at this year's festivals, it's Heath McIvor's debut solo show, "Randy's Postcards from Purgatory". Those of you familiar with Randy will need no convincing. Those of you who aren't, now's your chance.
Oh and I got married! To the love of my life, Hannah (the palindrome). Thankyou for your well wishes!
And thanks for reading this far. I hope you're moderate to happy in your life (allowing room for standard fluctuations), and that I get to see some of you in person in the months ahead.
cheers
Sammy
