We are desensitized
We are lost
We watch as others die
We laugh at others hurt
We cry if we don't get our way
We kill and pierce with our words
And when others mock us
We quote--
"sticks and stones may break my bones
But yours words will never hurt me"
In reality they break our souls
And haunt our concience
For words are harder and more piercing
Than any fading bruise

lauren, i love you, and i like the poem, but you know i'm OCD about spelling.
desensitized
other's hurts
break
do you mean hunt or haunt?
conscience?
bruise

other than that, kind of depressing in a 'the world is so fucked up' kind of way...i think that's sort of the point so kudos.
doesn't seem as lyrical as your other work, though. it's more blunt. good choice.
jsut an observation, take it as you will, but the last two lines are a little indefinite- i would say, not the best metaphor. i like the choice of words, but it doesn't actually make sense; bruises don't really pierce anything, they're the result. i would use the same imagery but revise the idea.

i really like the overall ideas presented. philosophical. random note: i just got out of philosophy class.

love ya!

p.s. what's with the punctuation automatically being put in front of the sentence??
i'm not doing that on purpose.
