Interview with Meow

My name is Gene Felix and this interview I'm conducting was through the Leroy V good library in the back. I conducted this in order to get inside thoughts behind reason why Graffiti taggers decide to do this on the campus? I arranged by email to interview one of the graffiti taggers who has been displaying his work across the MCC campus lately, much like the last known graffiti tagger at MCC known as spin.

Gene: Thank you for the interview Meow, can I call you Meow or not?

: You can call me Meow.

Gene: Ok, mind if I ask why you chose the name of Meow?

Meow: It seemed simple and easy to express myself with.

Gene: interesting, a lot of people on campus would like to know what your motivation is behind tagging the Campus property with your Graffiti especially in the bath rooms. Can you elaborate on that?

Meow: First thing I want to get off my chest before I say anymore is that though you and most of the people on the campus may consider it graffiti, but to me it's another form of art, and like any artist I need a canvas, but instead of it being on a wooden frame and cloth it's on a wall. As far as using the bath rooms to tag as you call it, where else can you find the place where every person on campus is sure to see your work, I thought you were a college student Man!

Gene: Thanks, can I ask what inspired you to do this "form of art" that you do?

Meow: that's a good question right there baby! I was inspired by the West coast style graffiti I seen at Clinton and Clifford, so I looked up sites where they had other examples of it and then practiced underneath south avenue's subway they had until it got cold then I stopped when I went back I found it faded out by the weather so I decided to do it in the buildings instead where it a lot longer than it did there.

Gene: What does your tag represent? And how did you come up with it?

Meow: first of all can you not call it a tag, it's an art piece not a tag!

Gene: I'm sorry, Let me rephrase the questions.  What does your art piece represent? And how did you come up with the concept for this piece?

Meow: My art piece represents me and the neighborhood I live in at Felix Street, and as far as how I made I got the idea from an old cartoon I use to watch as a kid, so I thought why not bring the black and white cat out of from the bag and I added a little bit of the Y2J style to it and that's it.

Gene: Why MCC?

Meow: Why not, they got a lot of artists over there, a lot more people and it's more convenient for me, but I will not say why.

Gene: Aren't you afraid people are going to find you like spin?

Meow: Yeah, but I'm not sticking around that long though, speaking of that I got to go, have I answered all your questions?

Gene: Yes, that's enough, thank you for your time.

Meow: No problem man, peace!
