Only Mary can tell us the source of this piece...great stuff, particularly the studio footage. Was this done for a local channel, the BBC...is this from VH-1's special on "Girl Groups" (forgive the expression, Mary :-)

Since the video ends prematurely, it would be great to know the source to see if the complete thing isn't floating about in the ether somewhere.

The Shangri-La's rule...yesterday and today.

To hear Mary wail, "Whatever happened to the boy that I once knew" is to reveal as poseurs Mariah and Christina and other female singers of today who pretend to sing about real love and emotion. When you're a teen in love, every aspect is profound, so when things go south, it IS the end of the world. Mary was one of the few singers of the past 50 years, along w/Gene Pitney, who could make you feel the raw pain and emotion of love and reveal in song how it can turn you inside out and upside down.

The Shangri-La's remain unique in aptly being able to convey the true flamboyant emotion that is teenage love. To listen to the songs today is to instantly again be a teen and feel the joy of youth, and the pit in your stomach. You never felt more alive than when listening to the Shangs.

Ah... I finally got around to reading the Norton interview.  What really comes through is your uncompromising artistic integrity.  Wow, that was a lot of syllables.  :)

Best of luck with the new phase in your life!

The Shangri-las are one of the all time greatest female rock groups. I'm so glad I got to meet two of the ladies, wish I could have met all four. The first time I met Mary was in Brooklyn,at the Southpaw outside along with Bill Miller & her other half Ed Ryan. It took me 44years to meet her and see her perform and it was worth it, even if there was an ice storm that night. You Rock Mary, Best always Linda
