How many shows have you acted in? From what I can remember…40. wow :)
Who was your favorite character? Jeanie in Hair. I LOVED that show.
Who was your favorite cast? Again…Hair. That was the most magical show. We were all, like, amazing friends instantly. Can't even explain the debauchery! Haha…memories….. Scapino & Hamlet 2 were amazing ones too (but then again...what wasn't back then.)
How many leading roles? Including high school? Nine
What was the most lines you've ever had? Mrs. X in The Stronger. It is a single scene, but it's the only character with lines.
What (one) part do you want more than any other? I could never play it, cause I'll never be an old black woman, but Queenie in Show Boat
Who was your favorite director? Gina from Hair and Dan from college. Can't choose….Dan is friggin Christopher Lloyd's doppleganger
What was your least favorite part you've ever had? Hypolita in Midsummer Night's Dream. Show rocked cause was my first in NYC – and in ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Central Park no less…but everyone else was in SAG or Equity…was VERY intimidating. I never quite got comfortable with that role. Plus I was cast late, so that's always weird.
What was the best musical? Hair! Although Brigadoon is a VERY VERY close second. The music in that is just beautiful.
What was the best drama? Black Elk Speaks. It changed my life and I really immersed myself into Native American history & folklore. Almost obsessively.
How many times were you married? Favorite spouse? Six. Rodney in The Cat's Meow
Ever play a villain? Well, in Black Elk Speaks I played a white colonist that wanted the Native Americans hanged (I also played a native American…oh the irony!)
What was your least favorite musical? Little Shop of Horrors. Not because of the show, but because of the politics that totally overwhelmed it and destroyed friendships, unfortunately. It was a disgusting & painful experience.
Best set? Scapino. We had a river going through the center w/a bridge, and a boat, plus a restaurant with an interior…was a great one to play on.
Best crew? And have you ever been in crew? The crew for Hair. Been on crew 100 times….I love it. But there's definitely more pressure than being in front of the curtain for me which I don't like.
Did you ever get your "GROOVE ON" in a show? I'll have to ask the same Q as Karen…..if it's dance, of course (begin the beguine!!). If it's sex…no. But did have to make out with someone that played my dad.
Best makeup? Erm…I guess Hedda Gabler cause I didn't have to do it myself
First ever production? Pilgrim in 2nd grade. 1st real show…orphan in Oliver when I was 11 (?).
Ever been in a show which you thought was "pointless"? If so, what? I wouldn't do it if I thought it was pointless.
Favorite song, in a musical you were in? "Once In the Highlands" from Brigadoon. We sang it from the rear balcony of the theatre so no one in the audience could see us. I cried every time. The audience was silent, our voices echoed through the theatre….it was overwhelming. Also, "I Am What I Am" from La Cage has the most AMAZING lyrics.
Least favorite song from a musical? Oh god…..um….. "Star Tar" taken from Dames at Sea for the Wise Guys & Fashionable Dames revue I guess.
Most embarrassing moment on stage? Had to do some very whacked out movements in Happy Days while reading my lines that did not relate to it at all. Was just weird, more than embarrassing I guess.
Biggest memory/ies on stage? In Happy Days we were in a huge theatre. Had a sloped ramp going from the back of the seats all the way to the stage & we had to rollerblade down it. The first time I did it was one of the most frightening and exhilarating things I've ever done. And of course singing The Monkees' theme song in Hamlet 2. How could I ever forget that!
Most recent show? Completed: the Walkersville Murder Mystery Dinner Train. Currently in rehearsals for The Threepenny Opera.
Character which (you thought) got the biggest laugh? That's a hard one…I guess Jeanie in Hair. I had some good lines in that one….that's not my final answer tho…..
Ever HAD to cry in a show, if so, what? Guess I could say at the end of Hedda
Shittiest performance you've ever done? Again… Hypolita in Midsummer Night's Dream.
Favorite Show? Hair.
Ever wanted to sleep with the leading lady/man? Of course!
Favorite Line from a show? Wow…that's tough. Hamlet 2 had some seriously funny shite. "Must be the wheat germ."
First thing you think before you go on stage? I'm a bad, vain actor….usually make sure my costume's on right…..
Do you ever look in the audience? If I'm not comfortable in the scene…yes
Favorite part of rehearsal? Dance rehearsals
Big theatre or small? Depends on the show
Comedy or Drama? Am more comfortable in comedies….rarely do dramas. Would like to though.
Have you or would you ever get naked on stage? I haven't, but I think I would.
Show you could tour for many years? Hair or Hamlet 2. Or maybe Hi Tech Tunes & Trouble. I actually miss those Bill shows a lot.
If you could play any part in a musical what would it be? Liesl in The Sound of Music. I've prolly got, like, 1 more year till I'm too old to do that one :-/ And anything in Godspell.
Thing you want to do on stage? Fly!
One show in the past you wish you were cast differently? Wish I was one of the kids in Sound of Music instead of a nun.
Would you ever do a homosexual/erotic scene? Have and yes.
Ever lied on your resume? Nope
Ever just not want to go on stage? Of course
Do you watch from back stage? When I can.
How do you prepare before the show starts? Warm up my voice & try to get into the mind of my character. Get energized.
Favorite moment you've ever watched from backstage? Used to love watching the Shriner's dance in Bye Bye Birdie.
Finally do you think you have what it takes to make it BIG? No. Zero confidence in what I do.
