Happy New Year! I thought I'd say that now that it's almost Valentine's Day. (By the way...I HATE VALENTINE'S DAY! Hubby and I never celebrate it.)
Well, I spent new year's in Iraq performing for the troops with some of my friends. I went with Jordan Black (Punk'd, the Groundlings), Michael Hitchcock (Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, The Groundlings), Karri Turner (JAG), and Dave Price (CBS Early Show.) It was such a blast, and VERY educational - a lot different from what you see on television or on those "Support the Troops" mass emails that people send around. I've posted a few pics from the trip here (there's even more on my facebook page if anyone's interested.)
We stayed in one of Saddam Hussein's former palaces, which was beyond weird. And Kathy Griffin was right: the entire country of Iraq really DOES smell like a fart. The only scent that can overpower the national fart aroma is the smell of Popeye's Chicken, which was available at one of the bases we visited.
I won't bore you with a ton of details, but let me just say that it was an honor to visit our troops, and I hope I get to back. Actually, I hope they get to come home! But that won't happen for a while I guess...
If any of you are in L.A. March 5 - 8, you should check out the L.A. Comedy Shorts Festival! I'm one of the "Celebrity Judges" (even though I'm no longer an F-list celebrtiy!) and a film I was in called BOUTONNIERE will be screened the first night. I'll definitely be there on Thursday and Sunday, so if any of you happen to be there too PLEASE come up and say hi!
On a final note, I love our new President!

I'm not happy with our troops being over there but I'm glad to see you helped bring some relief. Glad you are state side safe and sound.

Trust me we hate being there too and yes, it does smell like a fart. Although I didn't get to see you guys I'm glad you came down. All the wrestlers we met were assholes but I heard you guys were all nice

You're so B-list, stop it! Clemmy's F-list was totally outta control, though. Great pics! I'm going to sign into facebook and check out the rest. Popeye's chicken mixed with fart? Sounds like Mickey Rourke and Eric Roberts are working together again in harmony.

Rock on! Love "President Cool", although we understand things won't get better overnight. Change is going to have to start with each and every one of us. ....Kudos to you for going to entertain the guys over there. So many of them feel forgotten and abandoned. All the best with "BOUTONNIERE" and your other future endeavors!

I'll bet all our troops were real happy to see you! My dad said the same thing about Iraq lol! He also would stay in one of many former palaces and send me pictures of the solid gold mirrors and sink fixtures...even the toilet fixtures lol crazy stuff! Anyway, glad you're home safe, hopefully they will all be soon as well. God bless and take care. Steph

There's a new movie coming out (at some point. Who knows) with Nia Vardalos and Rachel Dratch, called "I Hate Valentines Day". Your post reminded me of it. ;) I'll try and check out Comedy Shorts! :)

I'm taking the wait and see approach as I always do with Presidents. It hasn't even been 100 days yet so I don't feel it would be right for me to give him a thumbs up or down just yet. To me keeping the bill of rights in tact. .. My entire family voted for Obama. I didn't because I don't vote because I think elections are fixed. My 11 year old niece would've voted for Obama as well, but she's not old enough yet. Her reason in her words, "Because John McCain's face looks like its melting." So if the dudes face is melting she ain't voting for him. ..RLP

Wendi, my friend (and damn it, I am calling you that lol), Thank you for supporting our troops in a way most of us can not. Talented people like you, I imagine, are a great morale boost for those brave people over there. I concur about bringing them home and having a great president. Thanks again...

I love our new president too - except I hope he quits being a giant pussy, borrows Hillary's brass balls and stops letting dimwitted, hypocritical conservatives push him around. ..Second item - we don't celebrate Valentine's or otherwise make any big deal about anniversaries as we hope we can outwit divorce by never bringing much attention to our relationship. I always remember Cameron Diaz and Matt Dillon everywhere talking about being crazy in love and then 5 minutes later - its over! Anyway, so far, so good...Finally, proud of you for going over there. It's more than a lot of chicken hawk assholes will do - remember McCain walking around with all his bulletproof outerwear, surrounded by troops saying how safe it is? You and your friends and Kathy G (always awesome) willing to take your own time, not to mention your own comfort and safety, and contribute to our troops - now I feel really extra honored to be your myspace friend!
