Exciting and Exhilerating is the music produced by a new UK Group called Toy Hearts. On this new project When I Cut Loose -there are great vocals and super musicianship - WOW! I first saw the cover and thought just another "pretty girls fronted" band and expected mediocrity performances. Then from the first song, was I in for a big surprise! Original tunes - spicey arrangements - it left me wanting to get to know this band! I guess if I had to choose three words to describe this project - it would be HOT, HOT, HOT! Sophia (guitars) and Hannah (mandolin) Johnson - sisters, pretty enough for covergirls on a magazine with their father, Stewart (banjo and dobro) Johnson, amazingly talented on their instrument of choice. Howard Gregory on superb fiddle and the other "cutie" vocalist Lauren Rogers (double bass) get tight and right and get down with it!Pure Passionate Playing! I have listened over and over to this "When I Cut Loose" project and I've yet to decide which song is the absolute best. I guess my "hot pics" would be, When Angels Sing to Me and Giving You Back Your Troubles, Get Along With the Blues and the title track When I Cut Loose, are tops of this offering of eleven songs. Still I cant forget Fast Raging River,a very nice soulfulness and certainly I adore the snappiness of Montpellier Street, it swings! This is one group to be watched closely - they will fast become a favorite group of yours if you're into creative music arrangements, nice sweet female vocals, and some really great picking. Take the Toy Hearts home with ya - just dont break them - they are NOT easily replaced. Check em out! ------------------------ Gracie Muldoon
