Sneeky Pete. The 3 Cameron brothers. Dunky, Jonnie and Wally ? Rab McQuillan on drums and Sandy Brown ( replaced by the evergreen Donny Findlay) on keyboards. Top musicians and some good original songs, as well as covers. Did a great instrumental of Jessica ? (topgear tune) Managed by Leon Catani who had NOW Records (North of Watford) and office at a Hotel on Argyle St at Anderson Bus Station. One 7" single and I think a "tape" album. 3 of them recorded an album in 1986 (which I have ) as The Force and managed by John Taylor. I think they run a recording studio now.
The Dead Skunk Band, from Johnstone, Renfrewshire. The "fun" pub band of the 70's. Not technically brilliant, but knew how to entertain. No originals but Dr.Hook songs and a few other comedy-tinged songs made them really popular. Kansas' " Carry on our wayward son" and singer Drew Gambles' "gay-rock" rendition of "Sailor" stick in my mind. Dial Inn regulars.
Joe Leathal, Cirkus, Bite The Pillow, The Valves, Liberty Bodice, Paris, Weeper (later Heavy Pettin') Modern Man, Those French Girls, Panache, Monasis Beach, Oasis (later Riff Raff) The Flying Squad ( singer Fin joined Pete Way etc) The Davey Lennox Band ( no intro needed) The Zips, Underhand Jones, P.S. ( singer dressed up for every original song including "Val Doonican was a heavy") The Cuban Heels, Deep Six ( inc' Davy Pattisson (ex of Findo Gask and later of Ronnie Montrose and Gamma) Brooklyn, Dodger, Positive Noise, The Zones, The Headboys from Edinburgh (the shape of things to come single) The Radars.....more to come when I remember
High Voltage... also managed by Leon Catani. Sneeky Pete were his talented pub/rock band, HV his "pop" band. Jim Price (later of Mike Oldfield Band) Smootho, Hot Dog, Billy Lindsey (the guitarist in a gasmask) Ken Meikle (Glasgow agent and of Dr Who stageshow fame and bassist Jake McDougall, were touted by Catani as Scotlands "next" pop band. Supporting bands like Rosetta Stone, Flintlock etc at "Shuffles" the popular teen dancehall on Sauchiehall St, they also won the Bell's Scottish Pub entertainers of the year competition (1978 ?) where the played at The Albert Hall in London against another 12 acts ( SAHB's Giddy up a ding dong being one of their numbers.) With red racing jackets (with names) and white jeans they maybe reminder people of the dreadful "Kenny (do the bump) ....and they lost.
Chow Parrott ( some folks thought it was said with a French accent (as in "show-parrow" !) Weird and wonderfull original band ( from Johnstone Renfrewshire.)........more memories to follow on them ( Mama Voot, Fish Feathers McTeeth, Moose and The Amphibian)........incl' the 1st EP. single Buzzgo Tram chorus, Lemons, and Gwizgweela Gwamphnoo.
