DEMO OF THE MONTH February 2008: "Broadway"

Hello there.
I guess this will be my official introduction to the band. It's been a while, almost 12 months, that I have played with the guys and two months ago I wrote the track you can hear as the demo of the month.
I was in Seattle and went looking for some food. It was a wonderful day and I listened to some Covenant tracks on my iPod to get inspiration. Well, I finally found a Thai place that served a nice soup and when I left I set my iPod on random play. Right after "Pulse" a track from the band Sleeparchive came up and I had a feeling that this would do very well with Eskil's vocals.
So I went back to the hotel and started to work on a track. As a working title I used "Broadway" because that was the street, where I had my little enlightenment. Enjoy!!

Pretty cool. Quite minimalist, but very cool. I like it.

I realllly love the second half of the song, where Eskil's vocals become clearer. It sounds like things are going very well, and that makes me happy, seeing as adding members to a long running band can sometimes really affect the music.

The worst thing about this demo is...

...that I missed the earlier demos of the month!

I do love the sound and the feel of this track; romantic (in the classical, literary sense of the word). I am so glad that the addition of Daniel to the team has not taken away from what I love about Covenant.

Peace

eskils voice feels like a blanket in the cold...and the sound of this track wraps body and soul...

Can`t wait for the moment, when this song will unfold all feelings around...

Great work! Go on like this and by the way: happy valentine :-)

Really love the track.A quite monotonous rhhythm. Great strings and Eskil's vocals. I'm curious to hear the track, when it's finished.

I think it has potential. I like it, but it doesn't seize me the way some Covenant songs do. I think the vocals could have better range which would add interest- love Eskil's voice as always, but I love it more when there's more contrast in the shades of it-- (The Men, 20 Hz, We Stand Alone, Bullet, etc... ) that emotional rawness that starkly contrasts the hypnotic, chant-like quality that his voice usually has- those 2 components that work so well together and compliment each other and I feel like they're usually necessary for those really great songs.

Now, I don't know if you guys will get this message anytime soon, but I just moved to Seattle to really begin my new life, and I have been DYING to listen to "Broadway" again now that I am here and have a chance to walk the city streets.

If you guys could re-rotate out some of those demos again, I would be an incredibly happy man...
