DEMO OF THE MONTH

April 2008: come19demo

Dear friends,

This month brings the first demo and pictures from our new studio. Work have begun and we are on our way to Covenant 2008 tba.

This winter have been unusually dark and long. I was playing around with Joakims Evolver which has some really interesting sounds and possibilities of modulation but I got hooked on a quite simple sound and started to come up with the main melody. Then I just plugged in a bunch of hardware to accompany it; a Sequential P1 for the bass, a 909 for the drums with some compression and the Waldorfs on strings. A few hours later I plugged in a microphone and got what you can hear this month. For now I just recorded some test vocals at the end of the song. I recommend subscribing to this blog so you automatically will get a notification when there are news and updates.

Oh, and I was in London DJing. I love playing my favorite tracks and I love London so there are some new photos as well. Every time I am in town I visit the drawing by da Vinci in the first room to the left at National Gallery. I guess its one of my favorite pieces of art but the Unilever Series Installation in the turbine hall at Tate Modern was breathtaking. By Doris Salcedo, the sensation experiencing it was something I will carry with me for a long time.

Yours sincerely,

Eskil, Helsingborg 16th of April, 2008

P.S. Out now on YouTube is a Swedish fan video of Rising Sun by Tobias Jansson aka ACC:Xess/animator75. Thanks! Please let us know if you make one as well. D.S.

What a voice! (gives me goosebumps) Great!
The song itself is still a bit rough - of course.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Greetings from Germany, see you at the Amphi in Cologne.

Outstanding. I personally love the synth/gear info and would love it if you kept mentioning what you're using.

Wow wow wow! You could seriously get lost in this, if you're not careful. But I guess that's the whole point of music, isn't it? And yes, the vocals are incredible. Keep up the awesome work.

Sounds amazing, reminds me of a song I heard in Duisburg yesterday; seems an unknown electro act from Sweden has stolen this idea from you and played it live @ the Pulp Club... :-)
P.S. Gee guys!!! Concert was breath-taking!!! Thank you so much for playing 'One world...' and 'Wall of sound', two of my all-time favs...

AWESOME demo. It totally made my day better, it's been pretty dull besides that, full of overdue work.

And I'm verrrry excited about the upcoming album, maybe come to Boston?
You've probably been here before, but I'm one of those idiots who didn't find out about you guys until recently, and thus I missed my opportunities.

In conclusion, you're awesome.

Hope you have a good day or life or anything or everything.

Oh how i like this demo of april! It's the best until now! It's one of those melodies which can light the skies in a long winter like this! Your voice, Eskil, is just breathtaking! I hope to be soon on a Covenant concert and of course I'd like to hear your favorite tracks and see you DJing once!

...well I agree with everyone that you certainly get lost in this track, but I think it's mainly because it creates confusion in a funny way. Too trancy and whiny for my liking. I like to get lost in music, but only if it creates a clear clean space to do so. The rhythm line is good though.

This demo has potential. I know because after one listen I'm already sitting here singing "Come Shadows..." to myself.
^_^
It's not perfect- the vocals get kinda rough at the end and I'm sure the lyrics need a lot of development, but it's already catchy.

Really like these demos, it will be so interesting to compare them to a final product. I'll also chime in with my fellow U.S.
fans- come back and visit us! :)

the vocals start in the second half of the track - like a chorus.

But I missed the vocals in the first half. there's a verse missing.

as an instrumental, it's just uncomplete...
so if you add one or two verses to the first half of the track, it
will become an awesome song indeed.
;)

I love it! I really like that its raw, especially Eskils Vocal towards then end when he picks it up an octave. too often a band will overpolish things and in the end and it gets stale. I say keep the vocal the way it is, maybe just add more.
I cant wait to hear more demos in the months to come!

Very nice song, although it could be a little bit more mystical, creepy our at least dark in my opinion.
But really nice song!
