So I made the mistake of drinking an Irish coffee with Mick McHugh yesterday,
and whilst I didn't really get much sleep I have managed to get a whole lot of work out of the way...
The new web site is so close I can smell it, we just have to fix some of the flash elements and we will be able to start testing it live, I will be posting a link just as soon is we get it up.
So the junkbeats night Habitat in Sydney got off to a shaky but positive start, seems like there is definitely support for the night but battling with publicans and 'want-to-be ninja' security have led to the offer and acceptance to move the night to the 'Bunker'. This is really f**king exciting news, monthly Fridays at a truly underground venue with a reputation for 'tha wicked like', (Might have to tweak the sound thought - in trusty dave b style).
The 'downsize' single JKBD004 is all packaged up and ready for release, we have already had some great response from a few heads on the promo list. i played it out at all my sets this summer and had a great response from the floor every time.
I have to finish my remix of Deep Child for Beef records today I still need to fix a few arrangement issues and twig the groove a bit, I am not sure if they are still going to vinyl with this one, but if they are then this could well be the last piece of wax that I have a release on. If you had asked me three years ago if I thought vinyl would die I would have laughed at you for at least a minute, now looking back I laugh, I have not played a record in two years. Having said that I am not still satisfied with my digital format, I enjoy the simplicity of CD's but love the tech side of traktor with a few midi controllers, what I am sure of is I like the progress the technology is making again…
On the music front I was handed a copy of 'Burial' from two different people within an hour at Exodus. First was Pete noodles then closely followed by Si Clone, the CD is still in my car stereo and anyone who has the time to sit and listen to a CD, I can totally recommend this as the most interesting two-dub-grime-step whatever it is called CD I have heard since Roots Manuva released the 'dub come save me' remix album.
Anyway, that is all I have to share at this minute, once the www is live I will be bombarding all outlets forums and portals with the link…
Till then…
