In a mutual decision between all band members, our current bassist, Nick Olmsted, has chosen to leave in pursuit of other musical/life endeavors. We felt our directions were much too different to work out in one band and that we’d rather lose a band member than a friend in the evident arguments and drama that would have resulted. Nick is a good guy with a lot of heart and ambition, and we wish him 100% luck in all future projects.
In the meantime, Brandon is more than likely moving up to bass (“I’m sick of playing drums, my arms hurt”) and the search for a new drummer is on.
In the meantime, we’re working on our next record. We’ve even decided to get busy on naming the record (as Bass Ackwards was Lenins and Things for about 6 months before we slapped ourselves upside the head and realized what a bad idea that was). We’re also working on a new DIY EP called “The Red EP”. That’s where we’ll get all of our silliness and ridiculous cryptic metaphors out of the way so we can focus on a serious record.
Bass Ackwards and The Red EP will eventually be available on iTunes, with The Red EP being iTunes exclusive (meaning we ain’t spending no money printing that).
We’ve got a lot of great material coming out and we’re planning on recording the first full length in December of this year yet. We’re also going to have some legit merch at our future shows and not that crap I try to give the name “shirt printing”.
I’m looking forward to a great year in TLL. Summer is barely half done, we’ve got a long way to go.
