	Michael	I'm pleasantly surprised by your quick turnaround.  Normally, the downtime between your releases is quite a bit longer, but you've been on this enjoyably prolific streak lately.  And I always appreciate your artistic restlessness.  Devil's Halo is yet another feather in the cap of brilliant albums from you, Meshell.  Granted, I wish the album's running time was a bit longer, but I appreciate the directness and rawness of both the songs' musicality and their lyrics.  "Slaughter" is one of the best things you've ever done and vocally, your range has expanded and is perfectly tempered with the mood of the music.  "Mass Transit" is brilliantly produced and that fiery drumming sounds great on my headphones.  Devil's Halo essentially picks up where The World Has Made Me the Man of My Dreams left off, only more straightforward and less elliptical this time around.  It plays as a logical extension without feeling of retrenchment.  I'm still waiting for you to do a double album, with all of this said.  But in other words, I love you lol.  ..   Posted by Michael on Wednesday, October 07, 2009 - 6:57 AM [Reply to this]
