N.Y. Times: Clinton Accepts Secretary Of State Job

New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has reportedly accepted the position as secretary of state in Barack Obama's administration.

The New York Times is reporting that she will give up her senate seat. The information is attributed to two confidants of the former First Lady.

Last night, Clinton aides said disclosure issues concerning former President Bill Clinton's finances and funding of his foundation have been worked out.

While in Harlem last night to help open a squash center for area kids, the New York senator remained mum on serving in Obama's cabinet.

"Somehow I don't think [my becoming secretary of state] is on a lot of young people's minds," said the former first lady.

The senator's senior advisor said any comments on administration appointments need to be addressed by Obama's transition team.

i don't know what to say except that they worked out a deal before ''hillary clinton'' lost her primary to obama. then, obama chose ''joe biden'' as vice-president to deal with foreign policy. and finally, came the deal for ''hillary clinton'' to accept the ''secretary of state'' position to seal the deal obama and hillary did not released to the media. that says it all, right here. i wish them luck to these two ''liberals'' of the democratic party.

I am kind of surprised by the choice of Hillary. When the Democrats are so close to a supermajority in the Senate to give up a seat with Rudy lurking around is kind of a risk.

NY1 claims Gov. Paterson is going to name Hillary's successor, and since he's a lifelong Democrat, the seat is unlikely to be taken by a Republican. Not even Rudy. :(

I ALSO BELIEVE THAT HILLARY AND OBAMA ALREADY PLANNED THAT BEFORE THE ELECTION WAS OVER.I COULD SEE IT COMING,AS THEY WERE PLAYING THAT DISLIKE FOR EACH OTHER TO WELL, AND THEN FOR HER TO STEP UP AND BACK HIM LIKE SHE DID,WHEN HE WAS RUNNING AGAINST McCAIN.I KNEW THERE WAS GOING TO BE SOMETHING IN IT FOR HILLARY OR SHE WOULD HAVE KEPT QUIET...MEMA{FRAN}

Hi Viktoria,

David Patterson will most likely name Andrew Cuomo to serve the rest of Clinton's term in the Senate. Think of that as GOOD news. Cuomo would by far be the tougher draw for Rudy should he upset Patterson in a Democratic Primary for governor. Early polls show Rudy leading Patterson but trailing Andrew Cuomo.

Second of all, think of Hillary's nomination as more good news on 2 more fronts

1. Obama is rethinking his "diplomacy WITHOUT pre-conditions" stance. Remember it was Hillary Clinton that blasted Obama for agreeing to sit down without pre conditions with the President of Iran. Her exact quote in that debate was "I wont be used as a pawn". If Obama wants to sit and talk with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, he is going to have to do it himself. Clinton will not do it for him. Of that, I am sure.

2. A third Clinton term is better than a first Howard Dean term wouldnt you think? Obama's Foriegn Policy sounded much more like what I heard from Howard Dean in 2004 than anything I saw for 8 years under the Clinton's.

Maybe there will be more blow jobs in the oval office, but this time the Clinton will be giving instead of recieving. Oh well. At least she is smart and maybe she can keep him from doing anything too stupid.

We have to win the senate run off election in Georgia. Its essential.

I figured she would. She is used to presidents that lie to the country they serve.

Once a fool always a fool. Why would anyone want to work for someone that slammed them to win their race? Lol.
Maybe she took on the job to get even with Obama and let the smart people of the USA (republicans that is) know what dangerous actions he is up to?

So it turns out that the Obama administration is just another four more years of Clinton, hows that for "change" huh? Sure instills a lot of "hope" in me. If it's just gonna be another four years of Clinton controlling the white house why didn't we just elect another Clinton cut of the middle man. This is more like a Clinton monarchy than it is a democracy.

Wow. Three of the most liberal senators in congress now hold three of the most important positions in the country. Ridiculous. Watch her appoint Bill as her successor. I'm gonna go take a nap for four years.

Hi Viktoria,

Here is an article on Hillary's Senate seat. As I suspected, Andrew Cumo is the the front runner. This should be good news for Rudy for Governor fans.
