MURAL UNVEILING

SATURDAY, September 20th - 6:30pm to 8:30pm -
Comfort Foods - A Mural Unveiling

Comfort Foods is an indoor mural depicting the personal comfort foods of community residents.  The mural spans two walls of our dining room and is being organized and implemented by recent MICA graduates Joceylin Bochino, Susan Hurite, John Kovacs, and Jessica Wang.  The mural features Japenese motifs as a homage to the popular style of the late 19th century when the hostel was built. Examples of comfort foods depicted include macaroni and cheese, borscht, pho (Vietnamese noodlesoup), and pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread).

A free reception will follow the unveiling on Saturday September 20th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.  Samples of the comfort foods depicted will be made available.

17 West Mulberry Street
Baltimore, MD 21201

This project was made possible by generous donations from McCormick Paints and the Maryland Institute College of Art Student Affairs Community Service Fund.
