Do you know the one about the mayor, police officer and the priest?

Diane and Jacob are in Lincoln City, Oregon celebrating the town's first ever LGBTQ pride celebration.  We had a reading last night at the Driftwood Public Library.  The event, attended by the mayor, a police officer and a priest--all in official garb feature Blind Eye authors Diane and Jacob Anderson-Minshall; and the one and only famous (former QLiterati! Feature Author) Marc Acito.

Diane started the evening out reading a selection from Blind Curves, then Jacob read his thought provoking entry in the anthlogy Men Speak Out:  Views on Gender, Sex and Power.  Titled "The Enemy Within:  On Becoming a Straight White Guy," the essay addresses Jacob's transition from lesbian feminist to well queer dude in het clothing.  Last but by far not least, Marc closed the evening with a reading from Attack of the Theatre People.

But the real fun started after the reading, when the audience peppered the authors with questions, which primarily focused the writing craft and Jacob's transition.  More than one gay couple approached us afterward to ask when our auto-biography might be available.  The answer by the way is tentatively 2010.  Hopefully the interest will still be strong in a few years.

Today, Saturday, is the main event, the Iris pride festival.  We (Diane and Jacob) sat with Marc Acitio, former QLiterati! author and guest host Kathy Belge (of Lipstick and Dipstick fame), and Beren de Motier, who will be a featured author at the October QLit event.

We were also joined by Nel and Sue, the two women who--with a little help from Lee Lynch--have brought us the wonderful Butch Cookbook, which features witty recipes like how to make a mayoniese sandwich.
