Vox Tip of the Week/ Tip on the Vox Valvetronix VT Series amps

This tip is on setting a high gain lead tone.

1. First choose the “US 90s” amp model.

2. Set the “Gain” all the way up.

3. Set “Treble” at 2:30, “Middle” at 1:00 O’clock, and “Bass” at 10:00 O’clock.

4. Set “Reverb” at 9:00 O’clock.

5. Set “Channel Volume” at 1:00 O’clock and “Master” to your liking.

6. Choose the “Delay” for your effect, and set “Edit 1” at 12:00 O’clock, then tap tempo a slow delay time, and set “Edit 3” at 12:00 O’clock for a fair amount of delay feedback.

A good alternative amp model, for high gain lead shredding, would be the “AC30BM” model, as that amp model has an interesting midrange curve, quite different from the “US 90s” model, but great for lead and rhythm playing.
