Current mood:insufferably self satisfied

so, yeah, finished the bastard didnt we, and feeling pretty dam' prolific as it goes

Here's the track listing:

Hooray for Everything

the Bride Stripped Bare

Burying the Bunny

Bittersweet

Amaryllis in the Sprawl

Mahalia

Glory Bumps

Squanderer

Devils' Onions

Yarg 7

Now it only remains to send off copies to Mike at Malicious Damage Records where his team of magic goblins will make it into a proper record with nice pictures and thanks be to God and our parents etc and who played what and thus into the fossil record it goes. Suddenly the gaping void of Completion opens up, not at all unpleasantly. Whatever next?

Meanwhile, in another affiliated part of the forest, Monstrance lurches into the party wiping it's arse on the tablecloth and frotting the host's dog. The reactions have been, as far as I have seen, from one of three positions:

1: those who accept what it is and like it

2 those who dont accept what it is because they want it to be something else

3: those who see what it is, accept this, but still dont like it

1's ok obviously, 2's ok really ('their problem, man') but 3 amounts to a negation of our essence and cannot be endured -luckily not too many of those, otherwise, well, we would all be very very sad, oh and wrathful.

The discussions among the XTC faithful are indeed fascinating to behold, especially the polite beasting of the heretical dude who was in the '2' camp. A jungle out there I tellya..

I've certainly enjoyed what I've heard so far, esp Winterwerk.  All delicate and spacey.  Looks like a beautiful package too (t-shirts! badges!) - god willing it should arrive today to soothe my post-easter hangover..

Darling congratulations - the only difficulty with living at the bottom of the world is attending to the credit card bills in exchange for marvellous music. Can't wait to hear it - again, hurrah for the creative juices that pulse regardless. As 'the kids' say - you rock.

Ta Dear!

From what I heard last year and the recent stuff online, Monstrance is wonderful.  Nothing like XTC or the Shrieks, nothing typical of either Partridge or Andrews, but this is what makes it so lovely.  Even though I have always loved your work together and apart, I find it refreshing that you've created this new and special beast wholly unlike anything you've ever done before.  Perhaps it's the presence of Martyn Barker that has triggered such inspiration?  Who knows?  I'm tyring not to vivisect it, only to enjoy what I've so far gotten to sample.  Keep up the good work, all three of you, as I know that you will.

Now....for some Shrieky goodness.  ::counting down the seconds left in April and May::

Yer Pal,
Tracy Angelina

So well put Tracy, but I would add that "Barker" quote un-quote, played no small part in the wonderful Dukes stage as well and could cause one to deduce that, and credit him for the resultant triangulated magical product. Thanks "lil-bro".
