Current mood:Caffeinated
Category: Music
After a year of going public as Ten Cats Laughing you'd think we would have gotten  this "We have a band" thing out of our system. And we'd be content to play music in our living room and muse about our foray into the music biz...what with the "touring", packing it up and packing it out (with Guy doing most of the packing), got a pic? And some gigs with fewer than 2 people there, the Los Lunas Summerfest where if the cars on display had been playing music there would have BIC lighters glowing everywhere. And who doesn't like opening for the kareoke people (not once but twice).

What how bout  those coffeeshops so into supporting off the beaten path live music and yet so closed now : We sincerely thank you Manzanares Coffeehouse and Blue Dragon:  Please come back someday. Neutral Ground: You made it through Katrina and God knows how many singer/songwriters -- you survived and you're talented to boot, "dahlin".

The most asked question: "There's only 2 of you?" And banjo---they must be a bluegrass band?  And we respond with "Jerry and Lulu"? Uh?? Who are these guys?

Then there's our invisible bass player. We keep imagining what it would be like to have somebody with his/her bass in the back seat, or in the other bed at the hotel, or all three of us watching the big screen TV at Cynthia's house. It would be nice to have the bass to balance out the soprano of the banjo and mandolin. Or a drum perhaps? That's the big thing now ala "White Stripes"---I get a little drum, put on my sunglasses, and bang a beat to Guy's riffs. And given that Guy basicly has no hair and my hair in pigtails....how bout some wigs? With heavy eye makeup perhaps?

But as you can see by the title of this blog, we not only are not stopping we are making another CD and it is almost done. Which means we will want to play these songs over and over again in front of ourselves and anybody else who cares to listen. (Or maybe not: think Prayer 52). With our first CD, Guy, ever the optimist, got a special deal on getting lots of them made. And as I have told many people, we no longer live in the age of the CD:We're digital now. So do we have boxes of CD 1 sitting in our garage! You Bet....

But CD 2 is different--that's what they all say. And like a new baby whose picture we've just seen in the ultrasound, we are wondering what to name it? And does this baby have feet? I was just asked this very question yesterday by someone who is having a real baby and who just saw her real ultrasound. Our producer, John said: "Don't name the CD after a song". That's just too much pressure on the song (songs get stressed too, you know). So some of our potential titles:  Two, Catfish Eyes, Bloodshot Eyes (what's with eyes?), The Eyes Have It, Ed's Camp (although I think we might get sued for this one), Scratchin' Me Balls (celtic fiddle tune influences), Amaretto Nights, Chasin' Cats, Livin' the Dream-Playing for Tips, Ivory Billed Woodpeckers Alive in Arkansas !

THE END . . . until next time.

Dude, you should totally name it "The Dave Matthews Band". People love those guys!! Or maybe "Songs to F@$ To". Cuz people love fuckin'.

"Suck Our (eye)Balls"? This is another good one.

"Circus of Queers" maybe.

I dunno, good luck with this.
