Coming Home, Coming Home.

So many awesome things about coming home.... food, beds, sleeping in, and sharing allll the tales. James and I played at over fourteen shows, all around the east coast, from opening for a heavy metal band, to playing for a sunday morning kingsport church service, we had a blast meeting lots of cool people along the way. We also had the great privilage to spend about three nights in the Shenandoah National Park. I took a lot of pictures of my shoes there. Reason being? Well I just enjoyed where I was at in the current moment, so I decided to document it. You should try it.
  What did we see?
*Washington, DC's memorials
*Washington's Chinatown
*Baltimore football game
*Scruff McGruff the Drug dog took a pic with us in Baltimore
*Watched a Blues Festival in Greenbelt Maryland night before we played... check out a red headed blues boy named ANDY PAXON... he's the next inspiration for the masses.
*Lots of parking lots we called home for the night... from Virginia all the way to North Carolina
*Sabra's dog Porter swimming in the New River in Eggleston, Virginia
*We pulled into a mans driveway to ask directions to the Palisades Restaurant... His name was tony and when we pulled in the was setting at the trough petting his cows (awesome)
*Hippies making jewelry
*I'm so sorry but, we seen those nasty krispy kremes cruising all around the store on those grease machines.... ek, might as well of been chicken grease with three bags of sugar in it... but... they ... taste.... so .... good.........
*flys on the fruit
*Big homegrown sunflowers at the Farmers Market
*Ducks
*some of the most interesting bathrooms ever... whether it be nasty, artsy, out dated... fully hands free lol we've seen them all..... EVEN womens urinals.... I can't really remember where that was, but I just know that James was very shocked lol (yes, i said it was urgent that james come into the bathroom... there was something he HAD to see.... cause he had to. Remember, Knowledge is power lol)
*Mental images of Paul (fan at the acoustic coffeehouse) in Jamaica... very funny.
*We seen just how unnerved crazy soccer moms can get when they tell you to turn left and you do... but you make a left way too soon and your in a one way street... I'll agree that it was my subconcious form of revenge on her and her vocal agressive ways. BUT i do appreciate hospitality. Dont get me wrong.
*outdoor carpet on the inside
*young lovers dance to gram parsons' "a song for you". They really were in love, no questions asked
*a bunny hopping freely in the house at the same time the cat was roaming freely through the house... it was strange, but they were friends (can't we all just get along?)
*how great it can be to make new friends and come to love and understand the generousity of strangers
*how great it feels to leave, and how incredible it feels to come back.

I absolutely loved Virginia- there's so much beauty so many good people there. Kentucky is most definitely my first love, but as for now, Virginia trails close!

What Now?

Well James is going to be INCREDIBLY busy with his next two years... he's going to be working on the campaign trail with Kentucky gubernatorial candidate Gatewood Galbraith. Crazy stuff!
As for me, I'm going to bed down in Olive Hill for the winter most likely. I know there's been immmmmense rumours of my leaving for Nashville TN... and I had been thinking of moving there, or maybe to california or even to some other random place I think I'd enjoy but with the way I think, I've lots of time to go everywhere and live where ever I think seems like a wise idea. So I figure I'll finish up my stock of firewood for the winter (I love my little house) and Joey and I have some lovely plans for June....... more on that still to come- I think you're going to be extremely excited!! So we're going to enjoy the winter in Olive Hill, Joey will be finishing out his studies at Morehead State University in May. We'll be going (along with some new friends in Harrisonburg VA) to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York this year, then if the funds are flowing still Joey and I will head to San Fransico to visit some friends and family and I plan to take lots of pictures... like the valued tourist that I am lol.
I've also plans to continue to play venues anywhere and everywhere so I can continue to meet the people that make this beautiful America that I call home. You are the people who are my family and I love you for that. Thank you for all the applause, all the offers to bed down next time I'm in town, Thanks for all the breakfasts made with love, all the friendly people who waved back while we were on the road, all the smiles, all the inspiration and most of all, Thanks for believing in what I love most- The unbreakable bond of human likeness and commonality! Thank you and I will see you all very soon!
Sending so much love to you you and you,
Sasha C.

Liked Shenandoah huh? Did you see Harper's Ferry when you were around Shepherdstown? It's really cool. The Potomac is beautiful too.

Good for you. You've found out one of the secrets of life. The road is great, but coming home is the best. I remember my younger days touring. I'm glad you and the Magnolia's had a good experience.
