No child left behind has been a real problem. When Pres. Bush and Sen. Kennedy teamed up to come up with this plan it sounded great. if you are a big government type. But from personal experience I have had a child who has failed time and time again. My wife and I even received letters stating that our child would be held back if he didn't improve. Yet when the time came he was passed on to the next grade. When we spoke to our school we were refused to hold him back on our own authority. When will we put education back into the hands of the parents?

We had the same problem with my eldest step-son. I ended up taking him out of traditional public school because of it. He "passed" the 8th grade last year with a 20% average. They passed him onto 9th grade anyway.

This year he is in virtual public school. It's like homeschooling with the backing of the public schools. He is doing phenomenally better, with homeschooling than with public school. Plus this school requires placement exams so that his curriculum is adjusted to his needs, rather than forcing him to keep up with everyone else.

If it weren’t for the virtual school I’d be struggling to teach him at home on my own. There is something seriously wrong with our education system. The no child left behind policy is not creating better students, it isn’t making smarter kids, and it’s just floating the ones who need the extra help along with the crowd. They’re not getting the help they need; they’re getting passed on for someone else to have to deal with them.

No child left behind is BS. Perhaps we should ditch it as a whole. It has fucked up my education majorly. Now I am dragged down to the level of the dumbest kid in the class so honors classes are still simpleton agendas.

I am having problems gettin scholarship, grants or anything to help me with college, because apparently I am still a dependent because I under the age of 21 or 25. So, I still have to put my parents income tax on my Fasfa form, even though they can not even claim me and I do not live with them. So, I go ahead and put their income tax on the form, and they tell me that my parents make too much money, when they can barely pay thier bills, and have to take care of two other children, and feed them and pay for thier school activities. And, I do not make enough money to get a loan and pay it off, but I am going to have to do that if I want to get a better education. I am just wondering if you are going to do anything about all the people who can not afford college on their own and are getting turned down my Fasfa and other scholarship programs?

Thank You,
Stephanie
