Hollywood, CA – April 22, 2008:  "Dark Reel" was acquired today by Spotlight Pictures', head of international sales, John Vista Neis after negotiations with producers David Forline and Jenapher Forline.  A last-minute addition to his Cannes Film Festival 2008 slate, Neis stated, "Dark Reel is our most important horror film acquisition this year.  I felt this picture would far exceed the expectations gorno-horror genre fans, and we had to offer it a premiere at the most important festival and market of the year."

Spotlight Pictures, which coincidentally has a similar name to that of the pseudo film company in the actual movie, embraces the entrepreneurial vision and spirit of the independent filmmaker who works outside the studio system.

The pre-production has a back story even of its own.  "Dark Reel" is a story in itself.   Director Josh Eisenstadt, who is privileged and from a well-heeled suburb, dreams of directing and meets ex-gang banger producer David Forline,  equipped with nothing more than bravado and chutzpah, and they make a movie.  It turns out a really good one, too.

The film's retro-style story combines horror, romance, a little humor, and surprise – a well written plot and recognizable cast.  It's the story of the gruesome murder of 1950s starlet Scarlett May (Alexandra Holden).  Fast forward to the modern day:  Real life scream queen Tiffany Shepis plays Spotlight National Films' Scream Queen Cassie Blue.  Mix in horror movie fan Adam Waltz (Edward Furlong) with a walk-on role, and several deaths and dismemberments later, he's the prime murder suspect.  But is he the "reel" killer?  The film also stars a bevy of beauties.  In addition to Shepis, Mercedes McNab, Rena Riffel, Kate Orsini, Alexandra Holden are featured.  Lance Henriksen, who plays the haunted studio head, Tracey Walter, and Tony Todd round out the suburb cast.

The worldwide market premiere of "Dark Reel" at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2008 but the expected buzz generated by its sheer entertainment value will lead to our announcement of the release date in the United States soon.
