If you love dogs, or you love someone who loves dogs, or you love someone who looks like a dog, or you love the music of someone who loves or looks like a dog, or if you hate all of the above and just feel guilty about it, donate to the "Hear, Boy" Action Fund on behalf of Bodie, the mascot and patron saint of the Go-Going-Gone Girls. At only three years old, Bodie the yellow lab has become deaf as a result of prolonged treatment with an antibiotic prescribed to treat a MRSA (meth-resistant staph infection) he contracted after surgery for a torn knee ligament. As a young go-go pup, he's an active fellow with lots of shimmy shaking left in him (and much to the band's chagrin, he seems to enjoy practices even more now), but at seven grand and counting in vet bills, he needs your help to add the h back to ear.

Every dollar donated toward Bodie's cause will count toward a lotto ticket for the "Win a Date with the Go-Going-Gone Girls" raffle, with a random drawing to be held August 23 at San Francisco's Hemlock Tavern at what promises to be a rave-up performance of the G4s (with special guests the Boss Martians) and will simultaneously help fund Bodie's ongoing medical treatments. Every donation is redeemable for a private lesson in how to do the Dog (it's a dance, you guys). Other exciting prizes include:

  • A signed copy of the Cramps LP Can Your Pussy Do the Dog?
  • Gift certificates to fine dining establishments Top Dog, the Pampered Pup, the Dog Out, and Casper's Hot Dogs
  • A DVD of the movie Dogtown and Z-Boys
  • Gift certificates for dog washes at the Sit Stay Café at Pt. Isabelle
  • A framed photo of the famed Doggie Diner head
  • MP3 files of hit tracks "Hot Dog, That Made Him Mad," performed by Wanda Jackson, "Walkin' the Dog," performed by Webb Pierce, and "Hound Dog," performed by Big Mama Thornton
  • Go-Going-Gone Girls T-shirts
  • A game of kickball with Bodie himself
  • And, of course, the fabulous grand prize—an Exclusive Night on the Town with not one, not two, not three, but All Four Go-Go Girl Stars of the G4s!

So dig dirty doggies, dig deep! Donations can be sent via PayPal to: the_better_to_hear_you_with@yahoo.com. Good thoughts, advice, limericks, and haiku are also welcome.
