Approximately 1,200 signed the petition at http:ShowYourLove.info and 800 joined a Facebook group asking Taste of Cincinnati organizers to name the folk-rock stage in honor of the city's beloved icon of exquisite music, remarkable courage and inclusive values. The Katie Reider Stage at P&G Gardens as the first stage in the history of Cincinnati named for a pioneer of gay and lesbian rights and as the first stage in the annals of Taste of Cincinnati named for a performer. The City of Cincinnati will proclaim May 23, which would have been Katie’s 31st birthday, as “Katie Reider Day in Cincinnati.” Katie passed away on July 14, 2008, at the age of 30 after battling a rare facial tumor that robbed her of her voice and sight in her left eye but not her will to live. A special tribute to Katie, her partner Karen and the Reider family is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at the Katie Reider Stage.
