Current mood: chipper
so i had my first gig - wednesday september 6 @ 8 - 10, i went on at about 9pm, at Aqua, in Boston. and it went really well. i'd never really performed with an acoustic/electric and was surprised at how much louder my songs were! haha. i never realized how much power some of them could have... if you just cranked up the volume hehe.
in any case, i got a bunch of comments after i performed, from people saying i'd had an awesome set, they really liked my music, and that they wouldn't have believed it was my first time except that i'd said it. i believe i said "welcome to my first gig ever", which was met with cheers and claps. i figured you can only say that once, right? so why not. but hearing feedback from the audience, as well as being able to watch them during performance, was really cool and affirming. i saw a lot of them just watching me, and really listening and enjoying the music. it. was. awesome.
one thing i have to get used to, of course, which i'm used to in recording, but which i think is even more important at a live performance, is positioning of the mic, getting used to the necessity of its closeness to your mouth while you still need to be able to see what you're doing on the guitar... yeah hehe definately played some partially wrong chords. but ah well. the experience was wonderful. and kev came out to support me and buy me a beautiful draft guinness (mmm, my favorite).
i also really enjoyed the other musicians. the first two i really listened to, then the rest became really enjoyable background to kev's/my convo. but all in all, it was a very pleasant evening, and the venue is really sweet. + free goldfish crackers to snack on at the bar!! i highly recommend it, and i hope to see you all there soon... maybe, september 20?.... just putting that out there ;) cheers <3
