The state of radio has been in a right mess for years.I know in america its as bad as the uk.
In the uk he radio stations are only interested in making money, and dont give a damn about the music or artists.
Most of em play modern music or rap or dance to make them sound trendy and up with the times, they think its cool.
A lot of older artists or up and coming talent that is good, doesnt get a look in,unless they belong to a major record label, which do a few back handers, and spend  money on promoting the artists.
But the worst is the djs, radio presenters,it seems they now have  to be celebrities, the radio stations think this will draw them more listeners.
This is a real shame as real talented djs dont stand a chance of getting a job,as its all taken up by celebrities who"ve already got jobs acting.
Some of these presenters dont even have a clue about the music.
I heard one woman on a major radio station a few years ago, doing a rock show, she played" lynyrd skynyrd"then turned round and said she didnt even know who they were.So what the hell was she doing presenting a rock show. How did she geta  job, perhaps she showed her tits to the boss.
Surely if presenters are gonna do a show they should a least have knowledge and passion about the music they play.Instead they are more interested in the latest celebrity gossip,or playing a silly jingle.
Even worse some stations are now just playing music and not having presenters on at all, just to save money.I like to hear what the song and group was called and maybe a bit about them.
We need to get back to proper presenters who know about the music, and even if they make the odd mistake or havent got a great voice for radio,at least it will be a real show about real music, and not a set playlist and speech.
After all its the music that matters.
