La découverte du jour est franco-américaine et risque de ne pas passer inaperçue. Il s'agit de Binoculars, quatuor racé, sorte de mélange entre Stereolab et Low. Here Comes, le titre que le groupe diffuse en tête de son profil CQFD, est un modèle de psychédélisme exalté.

CQFD / Les Inrockuptibles: Sous influence des quelques guitares US les plus classes du monde (Feelies, Yo La Tengo), le psychédélisme racé et aérien d’Americano-Parisiens très fréquentables.

Une oreille amie (merci Chtotakoï !) nous avait averti: Binoculars, c'est terrible. Et elle avait raison. Here Comes, le nouvel hymne des Binoculars, est une formidable chanson qui débute très pop, puis part sur la fin vers d'autres territoires, comme la noisy-pop fièvreuse (un peu à la Feelies). C'est furieusement addictif (ah ces choeurs qui s'entrecroisent !), et ca passe en boucle chez nous. Les trois autres morceaux proposés en écoute sur leur My Space sont tout aussi bien, notamment Suspect qui lorgne plus vers Sonic Youth.

Nous serons en concert le 16 Avril à l' Alimentation Générale 64 rue Jean Pierre Timbaud 75011 Paris M° Parmentier à 20h.
C'est une soirée de soutien en faveur des Orphelins du Cambodge organisée par l' ONG SFODA et Moujic Prod.

The discovery of the day is Franco-American and they are sure to get noticed. They are Binoculars, a quartet with a distinguished history that is sort of a mix between Stereolab and Low. “Here Comes”, the track that the group offers at the top of their CQFD profile is a model of impassioned mind expansion.


CQFD / Les Inrockuptibles: Influenced by several of the the most world class guitar groups (Feelies, Yo La Tengo), the pure bred ethereal psychedelia of these American-Parisians is something we want to hear more of.


POP ONLY KNOWS: A friend with an ear informed us: Binoculars are amazing. And she was right. “Here Comes”, the new hymn by Binoculars is a tremendous song that starts off very pop and then goes into feverish-noisy (a bit à la Feelies) territory. It’s furiously addictive (Oh, those intertwined background vocals!) and gets played non-stop at our house. The three other tracks on their My Space page are all just as good, especially “Suspect” that leans a bit more towards Sonic Youth.


Binoculars will play a concert on April 16 at Alimentation Générale 64 rue Jean Pierre Timbaud 75011 Paris Metro: Parmentier at 8pm.
It is an evening in support of Cambodian Orphans organized by the ONG SFODA (http://www.sfoda.org) and Moujic Prod (http://www.myspace.com/moujikproductions).
