A couple of days ago my friends and I were talking about something that I've been thinking about ever since. Why is it that minorities in general have such a  problem with education? Notice, I said in general. Why is it that we (blacks, hispanics, whatever) consider it "cool" to cut class or school for that matter and miss out on a opportunity that people around the world would literally die for? Don't get me wrong, I have my days when I don't go to class, but I'm talking about the people that are supposedly in college or high school and all they do is walk the halls or play cards ALL DAY LONG.

My guitar instructor and a very intelligent man I may add says that urban youth is basically brainwashed with rims and gold chains and what have you and they don't go after what really matters. My question is why? Why is it that people turn down a college education when it's basically given away and then complain about how they're in the "struggle" and the system is against them. For crying out loud, stop husseling metrocards and 1 dollar cigarettes in the subway and go do something with your life. I thank God that I opened my eyes when I did. My parents did not bring me here to just become another person.....I'm going to make it big, believe it!
