The making of the 'Scene is Dead'

August 2006 – Jaz Coleman joins the 'This is Menace' brotherhood

This was a major coup for Menace – one of the most inspirational and unique sounding vocalists from one of the most influential bands of all time - Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke is a genius and it is an honour to have him on the new album. He did have one specific demand though for this to happen – a box of cigars. Fine we thought, we'll just get him a box of Hamlet and be done with it.
But oh no! these had to be a certain make and size of cigar. A box of King size anniversary Padron ciagrs to be precise and they cost well on the way to £600.00 !!! But when you consider the end product that we eventually got, it was well worth the money.

The vocals were recorded in Bethnal green in London at one of Jaz's producer friends studio.Jerry (producer) had actually recorded Jaz's vocals on the last two Killing Joke albums and had a great chemistry with him too – you need one to work with this guy – he does not suffer fools gladly and has strong opinions on . . apocalyptic issues!!?? These surfaced in the Menace track. Entitled 'The Great Migration' the song deals with our Mother Earth - ruined and flooded by our own 'toxic' activities to such an extent that a new map of the world has to be redrawn to show the new geography created by the man-made devastation. Check out the sneak preview of Jaz in the studio with Menace on the main page. Taken from the forthcoming DVD – entitled 'Emotion sickness' there is a full interview with Jaz Coleman as well as his studio performance in a special 'Making of the Scene is Dead' section.

The DVD is crammed full of other features, which are :-
