Current mood:  satisfied
Category: Life
I am a little late starting this as my quit date was 01/02/08. No it wasn't a resolution as much as a revalation. I will chronilize my experience to you as well as offer help if you decide to take ahold of your life and quit.

Day 1: Wasn't so bad really, heck I'm thinking this is gonna be easy

Day 3: Nicotine is out of my system (takes 72 hours) it feels great to accomplish that, so rewarding. Did even though I was driving and went to a party.

Day 4: Day 3 is supposed to be the hardest and it gets easier. hmm I wonder and what is that awful smell?

Day 7: WOW that BK Sandwich tasted amazing! but I've also noticed the coffee at home actually taste like burnt poo. How did I ever drink that?

Day 8: My usual strength hot wings are much hotter than I remember! My body is detoxing still and pee ewe!

Day 11: so called quit zits have arrived. You break out like a 15 year old as your body continues to detox. Unbelievable how toxicating smokers are.

Today being day 11 and this is why I will not smoke today:

19 days today. I was told today that I seemed a lot happier. It's true I am happier, matter of fact I was on the edge of being depressed. Simply by quitting smoking I have pulled out of that. It is rewarding, builds self confidence, outlook on life is improved, not to mention the dating pool has doubled, rooaarrr.

So here is another ad I found amusing, keep an eye on what happens to his cigarette.

Day 25

Just noticed that my trackers says I have not smoked my 500th cigarette today. HOLY CRAP! 500 already! It's hard to think that I would have smoked 500 cigarettes and what that would have done to me, my body. Another milestone was Friday when I had saved $100. When I smoked $100 didn't seem like much but looking back across those 23 days and wow it's incredible just how much that $100 was worth.

I wrote a couple news agencies about having them investigate where the money they get for anti-smoking goes. Colorado has $25 million and spends less than $5 million. Not sure where that $5 million goes but I can think of lots of uses for the other $20 mill. I'd like to get a lung and heart scan for one. A side effect of quitting is feeling as it may have been too late.

Some sayings I've heard and liked:
1 is too much and 1000 is not enough.
Quitting sucks, but smoking sucks more.
If you can quit for a week, you can quit forever.

Some good Tips for quitting:
TIPS FOR QUITTERS

o Nicotine addiction is powerful. Expect to struggle for a couple of months.
o Don't despair. It may take six tries to learn enough skills to beat this addiction.
o Aim for absolute abstinence--even a single puff leads to relapse.
o Inventory those things that make you feel good and treat yourself to them--exercising, kissing, reading, taking a nap--instead of a smoke.
o Watch your coffee intake. Not only is it a trigger to smoke, your sensitivity to caffeine increases, mimicking nicotine-withdrawal symptoms.
o Change routines associated with smoking. Take a walk before your morning coffee. Drive to work different way.
o Although most quitters succeed (eventually) on their own, programs that involve counseling improve the odds, especially for the depressed or anxious.
o Don't dismiss nicotine replacement with patch or gum. Gum allows you control over your blood nicotine level.
o Keep your guard up. Most lapses occur three or four weeks out, when you're feeling better.
o In the first week, avoid, or severly limit, alcohol.

I had a very disturbing video picked out for this update but I think it's long enough and will save it for next time... stay tuned
