Category: Blogging
Well, it's been a very, very long time since I've written a blog. Usually if I update my myspace it's because I have a new song out or some new video. Today, I have no such news to report.

Life has been very busy. I've been working overtime at work while being one course shy of full-time at college. Finals are coming up, changes are happening at work, my lovely wife is pregnant with our 5th child and sick all the time, and I'm typically exhausted.

I'm not complaining, mind you! I'm loving life and looking forward to the holidays. I'm also trying out for a traveling road show which, if accepted, I'll be doing a world tour starting in May. I'm excited about the possibilities of that happening, but I'm realistic enough to know there's a huge chance I won't make the cut. I'll definitely keep you updated when I know more about the results of that.

My first song is now on iTunes. It's the Spurs 2008 Playoffs Theme Song, and while the Spurs didn't fare so well last year, I still think the song was pretty good. If you're either a die-hard Spurs fan, or a die-hard J@W fan, go purchase it. It's only $.99 after all, and I could really use the scratch. Just type "James at War" in your iTunes browser and you'll find me. Hey, review me while you're at it, will ya? More songs, and soon an album to come.

I'm hoping things will slow down for me once finals are over and I'll be able to focus on some new music and videos. One potentially bad bit of news is: YouTube (from what I hear) is no longer allowing the monotonization of parodies without written consent from the producers of the song being parodied. As I'm not in "the biz" and have no connections, it could be very difficult for me to gain such permissions. This may mean no more videos. Bad news, right? So I'll keep you posted on that as well.

That's about it for now. Happy Holidays!

James

Wow, you have been busy, well congratulations on the 5th kid! As well as you're 1st song on iTunes

By the way I hope some of these future youtube policies don't come into effect, they're ridiculous. The consent thing? That's not even a legal obligation. Well the next best thing to a youtube video would be a myspace video, right?

Hi James, Congrats on the new baby and the keeping busy. I'm sorry to hear about YouTube, that's where I first found your videos. But things happen for a reason. If one door closes, find another and open it. Think about Oprah and how she wanted an anchor position, if she had gotten it she may not be the richest woman in the world right now. Not that money is everything, I guess what I'm trying to say is you're funny and talented so don't give up.

Congrats on baby 5!

I'm going to miss your videos. I was just telling my husband the other day that it's been a long time since I've seen one. :(

If there is even an album I'd buy it!

Good luck for you in all you do. It's hectic now, but you know it'll all be worth it once it slows down and things start going your way. If you get on that tour, don't forget Boise, ID! I'll most definitely pay to see you and bring my friends along (if I can)!

Congrats on the baby!! And don't fret things like YouTube right now, it'll all work out in the end. Heck, you may end up not needing their platform at all to get your music to your fans. you jsut enver know.

For the paradies, it MAY be easier, to contact the musicians instead of their record labels... if I remember copyright laws, the record labels own the song, but the writer owns the lyrics... and that would be mostly all you want ;)
But for the most part, I think they won't care too much, cause if someone likes your song they may like the original and buy both!
Godd luck to ya, take care, have fun!! :D
BTW, congrats on the 5th baby... keep this up and youfamily will be mistaken for a family of rabbits!! lol

I really hope that you manage to get permission to continue the good work! I mean, all they really need is to get a sense of humour about their music and appreciate the publicity you bring them!

Plus how does Kareoke licencing work? Surely they are broadcasting just the way you are? Could be worth looking at!

As for iTunes, I can't wait. As soon as the full album hits I'll be downloading it and telling everyone I know about it as well!

MacDonald Reborn is wonderfull. I'd quite like to see a few more kid orientated songs, along with the World Of Warcraft parody that you KNOW is inside you!

Keep on doing what you and your family obviously love, and we will keep supporting you from the UK

Ross

YouTube has kicked 4 of our music video's from Scorpionvid that we have had on for 4 - 6 months +. They are about to kill their worth and relevancy. All in the name of lawyers. Have you ever watched a video about Sony Playstation 3 - ' How You Killed Your Brand" ? They definitely should.
