Current mood:  hopeful
Category: Life

I want to wish all of my friends on myspace a happy and healthy holiday season. I hope that many of you read this and accept my thanx for listening to my music over the years, and to thank all of the new listeners that have became friends. I also want to thank my daughter Lafiya for hooking up my page, you're the bomb girl!

I hope you all know that I appreciate each and every one of you and I hope that you understand that I cannot answer all of you in a timely manner. But, know that I will respond!

We have lost so many of our greats this year, and to me personally, many close friends and mentors. I encourage everyone reading this to take time and reflect on the blessings that you have received this year and thank the creator for the blessings that you are about to receive. It is truly great to be alive! and to be able to continue to make music and to finally, take part in the ongoing story that is Jazz. I wish all of you much success in the pursuit of your visions. We are all a part of the Jazz story, it takes all of us to tell it. Ken Burns, eat your heart out!

Peace and Blessings,

Time will tell!

That was really a message from the heart.

It was well received and much appreciated.

Keep on living it up, and laughing, and playing.

You are right that many pleasures, and treasures, are temporary and we all should enjoy and appreciate them every day.

Hey Joseph,

Thanx for the comment. Listening is the most important thing I feel. All the best with your music. I don't get on this page as often as I would like so I apologize for the delay in responding. This internet thing can get overwhelming at times but it is "all good"

Peace,

Bobby

Dear Handsome Father of Lafiya,

You do it everytime, don't you? You seem to ignite when you take that deep breath and wet your lips...I still see you at Birdland when you were apart of a group of us that had to do with CHARLIE PARKER DAY; a lot of magical people were there; George Coleman, Clark Terry, Jimmy Heath, his wife, and then, out of nowhere you began to COOK and my world weary bebop ears harkened and you were the epitome of a Great Master. You continued quest for inidviduality and creativity is your God given gift and you SHARE. I know, I know how you demand from yourself and those you play with...I know you are MUSIC and YOU MUST BE SATISFIED, I feel it as the music spseaks of matters that are more than you just getting up there and entertaining us, oh no, I feel your enthusiasm...You are not drama or the edge, oh no, you play with passion and emotion as well as logic and intellect. Your music makes me feel good emotiionally and physically because YOU ARE A BOMB! You have an inner clock, radar, kriptonite, call it what you like, that allows me to feel you automatically have guidelines which are very hip and jive, with a savy strut that concerns balance between all elements, such as loud to soft and at times you "HOWL", improvise from fast to slow and then HONK my heart to shreds with your fundamental principles that twirl and grow inside that magnificent musical mind of yours...but it is the tension and release as you stay loose and flexible to move back and forth, up and down into the SECRETS of the extremes - never so rigid that you aren't aware of the woman that is your saxophone, never breaking or making rules beause YOU ARE the epitome of a NOW JAZZ MAN Connected TO THEM...YOU LEARNED FROM THE GREAT MASTERS and PLAY TODAY AS HARD AS YOU CAN, AS IF THER WEER NO TOMORROW
