ANDREW WINTON PREPARES TO RELEASE HIS NEW ALBUM - SURFACE TENSION
Andrew's new album will be officially released in January 2009, but there are a few pre-release advance copies available at gigs and via the website www.andrewwinton.com
The new album features Andrew's unique blend of roots/folk/blues music with his signature quirky jazz influences. Songs from the new album are already grabbing national attention with the track 'Don't You Listen' a top 10 finalist in the Rock/Indie category of the Australian Songwriters Assocation awards, and Andrew recently being announced as a top 10 finalist in the MusicOZ awards for 2008 (in the World/Folk category - results announced in December).
The album has plenty of lap slide guitar, with a couple of captivating instrumentals. Other tracks range from the funk/jazz influenced title track 'Surface Tension', a down & dirty blues cover of 'Nobody's Fault But Mine', and the thought-provoking 'Weathered Hands'. The album features Paul Novosel on drums and Karen Winton on backing vocals, with other guest musicians including Lucky Oceans (pedal steel), Simon McCarthy (keys/organ) and Vick Ramakrishnan (tabla).
Two sneak previews from the album have been uploaded on the myspace site - the new single 'Love Paints A Picture' and the rootsy 'Here Comes That Drunk Again'.
It has been a long wait since Andrew's last release (The Decompression Chamber in 2006) & everyone at Andrew Winton Management is thrilled that the new album is set to fly!
