For a long time I began to think that there were two kinds of people: those with a vivid imagination and those with out.  You could see symptoms of these differences in several ways: how they conversed; what they would wear; what hobbies they had; and most of all, what movies they would like.  Theater (aka movies) offers two things to people: a portrait of reality or an escape from reality.  The people that seemed to have a vivid imagination would like latter.  The more real the more the less imagination needed.

Before I continue, let me preface that there is nothing wrong with any genre of movie, I like them all.

God gave us this imagination to be able to understand His supernatural existence better.  However, life gives very little incentive to have imagination; usually the contrary: ridicule and persecution.  Often it is the geeks, rejects, or nonconformist that retain this sense of imagination, mainly because they sacrificed mass acceptance and conformity for the story in their head.

So in this democratic society, we begin to believe that majority is right.  But as of late, the majority of young people have been prioritizing acceptance between each other over the pursuit of truth and absolutes.  This intrinsically forms an abandonment of imagination; for this wishful creativity we call imagination gets in the way of the constant expectation of today's society.  If God's reality is really super-natural, meaning that it is superior and in charge of the natural reality, then why is it we prioritize our natural world so far above anything in His?

Amongst many of our answer to this question is the lack of imagination.  Imagination in this case, is more than just creativity; it is also letting our heart be passionate.  Every grown man that is in a job he hates, was once a boy with dreams.  If you have an once of opportunity to try to change your world to be what you want it to be, then what is holding you back?  Usually, it is the habit of just reacting to the world, instead of imagining what it should be and trying to make it fit your picture.  You will fail, many times; but if you didn't try the regret will haunt you.

For this approach to have any lasting success there is one piece that must be included: understanding God's imagination.  For this, you must first learn of His love.

I can't say that I agree with all this.  Honestly, I think society pushes us to be imaginative.  Hardly anyone is satisfied with the status quo.  We are constantly stressed to find something newer and better.  Those that have an imagination (and put it to use) are praised for setting precedents (example: Jerry Bruckheimer).  So imagination doesn't get in the way of society's expectation; it fuels it.  It's why generation X and Y question more than their parents, and why the answers that worked for the older generation don't suffice anymore... It's not a lack of imagination that causes us to prioritize the natural world over God's; it's the overabundance of it.  Had we not been so creative, there would not be so many alternative views to the traditional perspectives. With all the options, many of which are more tangible than faith, it suddenly becomes easier to overlook God's reality or to prioritize ours over His.

Searching for something newer and/or better is not directly linked to ones imagination.  Most people construct what they are searching for from real life experiences and options in front of them.  The imaginative person, just searches their heart for what to do, regardless of opportunity or reality.  Most people don't do this.  The Wright Brothers wanted to fly, regardless of the common known fact of the time that people can't fly.
