THIS SATURDAY 10/25....we are playing our last show of 2008 at the Local 506 in Chapel Hill (local506.com). But it's not just a show, it's the 5th annual DIVE PARTY, brought to you by our awesome friends at the Daily Tar Heel. It's free and apparently there will be food and ALSO making out!! According to Jamie Williams, editor of Diversions, this show will safely fit into the TOP 5 EXPERIENCES OF YOUR LIFE. That is sure a lot of pressure but we promise to do our best. The show starts at 10 pm. Max Indian plays first, then Schooner, then us. Inbetween sets you will experience the pop magic of ex-Lovely Lovely Robin Chen (DJ Mixcake) as she spins some sweet jamz to get our dance party started! YAY!
In other news, we have started recording our second 5 song EP, which will be out in February or March of 2009. We are taking the next couple of months to ensure the awesomeness of the recording and also to work on new songs. It is kind of like a hibernation. Cathleen is learning guitar, so look out 2009 because you may not be able to handle her riffs when she steps out of her winter woodshed and tears it up. So we will be spending a lot of time together as a band having what we refer to as "headband time." This is when you get together to work on new songs or just play for the sake of playing, and you wear a scarf or headband around your head the whole time. We swear it makes you rock harder and have more ideas. I credit Hoppie (from Local 506) for giving me this idea, because he told me once that he is able to write more poems with something around his head. TRY IT!!! I'm not kidding, it works.
So, before we disappear for a couple months to put on our headbands and finish this record, please come out and hang out with us on Saturday night. ALSO, we are now selling our first record (EP I) for the low low price $5, so maybe you want to get one for your grandma for Christmas. My grandma rocks out to it so maybe yours will too?
May everyone have the autumn of their dreams and wear a groovy headband.
xo xo xo,
Amanda for VVLL
