I've been recording new tracks, some here in Auckland with Eddie Rayner and Brett Adams, and some in Sydney with Tony Buchen(producing and playing bass) and Carlos on drums. They played the Byron Bay Blues festival with us recently and it was so good we have kind of been working together ever since.Carlos is the Poor Boy drummer for the Syd season which starts July 9th.Guy Pearce couldn't do it so we have Matt Newton as "Danny" and I know he'll be really good.
I'm recording a last track with Tony in Sydney at the end of the month. It's a brand new song called "The View Is Worth The Climb"...I wasn't expecting to write any more for a while, but it was one of those ones that you wake up humming, and race down to the piano before you forget. So that means 4 brand new tracks for the Anthology, which comes out early Oct.And a remake of Stuff and Nonsense with Missy Higgins. We also did a new version of "So Deep" from Big Canoe. That was in Auckland with Eddie,Brett,Wayne Bell on drums....we did it first take and it sounds atmospheric and very free...the way songs do when you don't overwork them...
Otherwise winter is coming down and swine flu is spreading....here in NZ they predict up to 2 million people may get it over the next couple of years which sounds ridiculous to me...in a country of 4million...maybe they're just covering themselves, but it does sound like a beat-up..."have you seen the little piggies"???????

Oh my! This anthology is sounding more and more exciting all the time! Can't wait! Sounds like it's going to be out just after my son's 6th birthday - the one who loves to sing your songs on youtube! Here's the link in case you still haven't see it, Tim! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNG6gut-m-g .....or maybe I can get it for my daughter's birthday on Oct 6th??  hmmm, still thinking about seeing Poor Boy when I go to Sydney on the 17th, even though I already saw it in Melbs.... I wonder if there will be tickets available though.

And hey - happy birthday for next Thursday!! I never forget your birthday coz it's mine too

Thanks for the updates Tim, it's a shame Guy Pierce won't be doing Poor Boy for the Sydney audiences but I'm sure Matt Newton will be fantastic.  My daughter and I caught the show in Melbourne and thought it was brilliant.  Just received some FOTE mail from Peter today and he included advertising material for the Sydney season of Poor Boy.  Nice touch Peter.

I have to say I'm really looking forward to your forthcomming endeavours, especially after the last album made such an immpression on me.

Cheers and ......

It doesn't seem at all far-fetched that the flu would infect half the population over the space of a year or two - that's what the flu does! I heard an expert say here on the radio that his gut-feeling is that around a third of the people in Victoria are probably infected with Swine flu already - now *that* sounded extreme to me, but he's supposed to be an expert so if there's any credence at all to that statement, 50% over a longer period doesn't seem unlikely.

Although if they come up with a vaccine as predicted, that's bound to limit the spread considerably.

I'm just thankful that it doesn't seem to be particularly brutal so far.

Anyway - I'm looking forward to your anthology, and happy to hear you're busy making new music!

Swine flu - something happily hyped by Bayer, Glaxo-Kline-Smith etc. Next year it'll be bovine flu or maybe fish flu?

So so many people die of "normal" flu each year - swine flu is not a bigger worry than that, I reckon.

Thanks for the up-date, Tim.  It's nice to know what's going on.  Unfortunately, it sounds like you're far too busy to come to the UK.

It's not really swine flu. It's a human, avian, and pig hybrid. It shouldn't even be called "swine flu." A lab-created piggie? Funny that the vaccine existed before the flu began infecting people in Mexico, last year. Major media in the U.S. won't touch this story. Tainted flu virus with live vaccine was released (who knows where it was sent). This was discovered in Czechoslovakia. The fact the media isn't covering it makes me suspicious .... Are the real little piggies the ones in the starched white lab coats?

I can't see "The View is Worth the Climb" on the tracklisting...   did you end up saving that song for another project?  You're probably too busy to respond to this so I'll just say that the Anthology looks great (and the tracks you've posted sound great) , I am going to buy it on itunes in a minute here.  I'll look forward to hearing "The View is Worth the Climb"  eventually.  :-)

Now I know, it was Matt Cameron (co-creator of the production, Poor Boy, for those not familiar.) I thought it might be; He has known and loved Tim's work for a long, long time. The heart speaks eloquently.
