Jerry Dammers brings The Good The Bad and The Queen to LMHR

Specials Founder Jerry Dammers is hosting the LMHR Carnival '08 Finale, which will feature a set from Paul Simonon (The Clash), Simon Tong (The Verve), Tony Allen legendary afrobeat drummer) and Damon Albarn (Blur) - playing music from their The Good, The Bad and The Queen" album.

Jerry and The Specials played the last-ever Rock against Racism carnival in 1981, and Jerry has played a leading role in the LMHR =campaign; Jerrysaid: "Love music hate racism; always say that you don't have to love music, it's the second part that's important! Hating racism should be as natural as liking music, or breathing air for that matter. Anti racism is not "political" it's normal. Please support Love music Hate Racism and help correct the hysterical lies and distortions of the B.N.P."

Paul Simonon also played the 1978 concert, as bass player in The Clash and is also a supporter of LMHR, "It is what it is... musicians against racism. I was against it then and I still am today".

LMHR Carnival '08 is timed to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the iconic 1978 Rock Against Racism (RAR)/Anti Nazi League (ANL) carnival and march. As with the original event there will be an Anti Nazi League-organised march against racism and fascism on the day, assembling at 10am at Weavers Fields London E2. coaches will be bringing groups from around the country to the event.

Former Clash bassist Paul Simonon has revealed that his group are reforming especially for this weekend (April 27) Love Music Hate Racism carnival.

The legend, who also plays in Damon Albarn's group, told NME.COM that the band had stopped for good after last year's album, but they decided to reconvene because of the cause.

"Effectively The Good, The Bad & The Queen finished last year, I mean permanently finished, in September," he explained. "But I think because of the subject matter and what this event entails and stands for we all decided it was definitely a worthy cause to get us back together for a few tracks and possibly some new ones."

The group have been invited to headline the free event in London's Victoria Park, something Simonon was keen to do after The Clash's involvement in the original 1978 Rock Against Racism event.

"In what it stands for it will bring back the memories. It will probably be a bit strange for a moment not to have people like Tom Robinson and of course ourselves (The Clash), but time has moved on and we have to crack on. You can't dwell in the past, you have to deal with the issues today," he explained.

"I played one of these with The Clash called Rock Against Racism, I don't know why they changed the name, but this is the updated version and the problems are still there. You would have thought that we wouldn't need another one in this country. I went to school when the first of West Indian people and their families were invited over, so I went to school with first generation you could say and you would have thought over the years there would have been some integration, and that BNP tendency would have died down. This country has always had immigrations, we've have Vikings here, you name it and it's people working together that's what our country is about."

The bassist added that having reformed his band, he hoped The Good, The Bad & The Queen would include some new material in their set.

"We've got a few bits and pieces which we've coveted away which we might be doing," he explained. "I can't really say more as it will spell things out too much. There's hopefully a few magic moments."

What a superb set, despite a few sound problems. Absolutely amazing, very moving.
There was a crows nest in the tree behind the stage (with crows) was that a special effect? Along with the sun coming out a magical day. No trouble, music is the answer.
Ghost Town was superb, well done to you all.
