I always loved the infusion of blue into Christmas...it so fits the winter weather outside that most of us have...I love this and hope that it inspires many warm thoughts...but at the moment my heart is shackled in icy chains that the warmth of a thousand suns couldn't melt...this comes and goes, but i seem to be able to chase it away for moments at a time when I concentrate hard enough.

That would be very nice! I have returned to one of favorite loves recently...reading. I am once again walking the banks of "Riverworld"...after that I shall revisit my old friends R.Daniel and Thomas Covanent.

Merry Christmas Dear

Merry Christmas Dear, I love you
This I must tell you
In a song and sing it loud
So you can hear
Although I feel you near quite often

It is so very cold here this year
You were always so happy
In the cold
It’s been cold since June really
So Cold
I’m getting used to being cold

This is a time of year
For warmth and joy
For 50 years, I have seen it that way
Wondering always how sadness could prevail
In such a happy time
I know it now

Merry Christmas Dear, I miss you
This I must tell you
It was your favorite time of year
Your joy was in giving
Joy to others
That joy you rarely had
Until we met
That same joy you gave to me

We don’t have much this Christmas
There’s very little money
Tighter than I have ever seen
And we saw some tough times
Didn’t we
What’s missing now is
Your love
Your sweet smile
Our joy

It is the joy in this, like bright light through stained glass, that enlivens this, Mike. In spite of sadness, the memories bring peace. Exceptional, Mike.

*hugs* This is so beautiful, Mike. I know the holiday must be difficult this year for you. It's wonderful that you have such wonderful memories to fall back on. Your poem was so heart felt that it's left me speechless. (imagine that!) I think I'll go read it again. xox

The memories of all the years you spent together will begin to break down the blue, blue Christmas this will be for you. I know when my mom passed away it was hard to know she would no longer be there to make it fun or at least funny.
You write so well and that is your blessing Mike, for the reader feels what you are saying.

Isn't it though! I remember my aunt having a silver tree with blue ornaments and how beautiful it was. I also remember my mom not caring for it much so we never got one, lol. i need to figure out how to put up a tree without it becoming a giant cat toy...sigh.

Oh, Mike. What a lovely a tribute to your wife. I know how the holidays can be painful reminders of of all that was and never will be again - My kids were 17 & 20 when we lost their dad after a long illness. We had 21 years together & I wish that we could have had 50 more.

Take comfort in knowing that time does dull the pain and we are able to look back on our memories of life together and feel once again the happiness we shared. Nothing can ever take our loved one's place, but life does go on and eventually we find new purpose to fill our days and make new memories to join the old.

Wishing you love and joy for the holidays,
Marcia
