Current mood:Studious
Just some answers to an essay I wrote. Any input would be obliged. I've got until the 15th to submit both questions. Hopefully I get the scholarship; wish me luck!
"What would you do if you weren't afraid?" (In 250 words)
Of all human emotions I feel that fear is the most intense. Fear can be the sole determinant of the outcome of someone's life. Fear can make or break a person. Without fear I would be unstoppable. Without fear my ideas would be articulated to the bluntest extent. Without fear I would poke, prod and pique until I found the answers to all of life's greatest questions; chances are I would find my answers, too. Without fear I would, figuratively, scale buildings of proscribed knowledge and pursue endeavors of prescribed intellect. To challenge the authority of the authority. To dare the demeanor of the demeaning. to deviate the disinclined. These are the actions of a fearless person. I would venture into the Twilight Zone and exploit the area that lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. I would become the contemporary Victor Frankenstein so that I could reanimate the values and morals of a seemingly mortified sense of etiquette amongst society. I would be the Dr.Jekyll of the twenty-first century trying to procure cures for the incurable Mr.Hyde's; despite their spite. On a much less abstract, more attainable, level, there are trials and tribulations that would require a larger level of valiance for me to overcome them. One example of this is trying to be less socially-inept in unfamiliar surroundings. I would emend the many dysfunctions that take place in my home. If to be fearless is to change the world I would reverse Earth's orbit.
"How are you going to change the world?" (Again, In 250 words)
My idea may seem to be very general and minute; something that would result in change perhaps only by the Butterfly Effect. But who is to say that we cannot rely on such methods to resolve our madness? A specific goal I wish to accomplish is to become a news broadcaster. If I could relay important information to the masses then I would, ultimately, be changing the world in a slow but sure process. To make people aware of their surroundings is, by all means, the first step in changing the world. A society that knows is, without a doubt, a society that grows. Knowledge is power and power is what we need to make changes. Reporting the news is only the first step. Anyone can read from a teleprompter or from a stack of papers. My goal is to make people want to listen to the news and become responsive to it. People should become participative in changing what they don't like and advocating what they do like in reference to both national and international issues. In order to arouse interest and drive people to take actions one must deliver the news in a distinct, extroverted way that is unfamiliar to most of them. This mere deviation, even if only made in vernacular, is something that has the potential to turn heads and create response. If it were possible for me to get just one ear and turn that into one effort the world would be one step closer to change.
Sound ok?
