So, I finally got around to seeing Smoking Aces today, and while I certainly don't recommend it for anything more than popcorn fodder, I did have a blast with my brother. Just goes to show, it's always about the company.
However, I was completely intrigued by the hauntingly familiar musical score that played through the last few minutes until the credit fade. All the way home, I pondered, until it hit me as I was walking through the front door - Lux Aeterna; that little diddy from Requim that seems to be everywhere nowadays. Of course, this version was all bass and pick guitar, but that famous buildup was all there.
So, I hopped online to check the IMDB, and sure enough, the movie was scored by none other than Clint Mansell. But, just like before, the remixed Aeterna was penned a different title.
Now, I love Mansell - he and Bear McCreary (of BSG fame) are easily my favorite music makers for the moving picture screen, but come on - if you're gonna use your stuff over and over, fine, but be honest about it and don't keep giving it a new title.
