The Rogue Rollergirls have been very busy girls, indeed. Two
weekends ago, the Classic City Rollergirls came up from ..Athens..,
..GA.. to compete against ....Fayetteville....’s very own Rogues in a “Hot
Derby Mess.”
Rogue Founder, Bull Lee, made a special appearance skating with the league she
built, helping them in their battle. Many of Rogue’s fan favorites were also
found on the roster that night – Samoa Pain, Leatherneck, Suthurn Hail, TriixE
Titanium, Madame Switchblade, WestCoast MaFia, among many others. Two newer
faces made their Rogue debut on the derby track that night – Hellon Wheels and
Dark Enigma. Look for a lot of surprises coming out of these two as the season
progresses!
The battle was tough and long – two thirty minute periods of non-stop action. ....Classic.. ..City.... came out strong, gaining Lead
Jammer status right away, and racking up some points. Rogue fought back. From
jam to jam, both teams kept gaining points. Rogue would be ahead by one, then ....Classic.. ..City.... would advance by two. It was back
to back action - a true nail-biter, to be sure. Going into the intermission,
Rogue held the lead by a few points.
The second period was just as tough as the first. Both teams put up a good
fight. Harder hits were made as each team fought for the right to be called the
winners. Jammers were thrown across the floor. Blockers were piled atop one
another. Skates were clashing, and girls were going down. It was true
pandemonium on the roller rink. Girls were being sent to the penalty box left
and right. Teams were skating without their jammers. Everything was a whirlwind
of action – definitely one of the most physical bouts I’ve witnessed in a long
time. Going into the end of the second period, both teams were neck and neck –
only one point separating their scores. But in the last two jams, Rogue pulled
ahead, and ended up defeating the Classic City Rollergirls on their home turf.
Are you sad that you missed out on the action? Next time, you don’t have to.
You, too, can have a derby girl tossed into your lap! This isn’t the end of
Rogue’s home season! In fact, Rogue is continuing their training to prepare for
their next bout, which is just a week away!
In August, you’ll learn that “Big Girls Don’t Cry (They Get Even!)” when the
Rogues will be taking on the Sinstral Florida Derby Demons. Don’t miss the
action on Sunday, August 2, 2009. The doors will open at 4:30pm and the action
will begin promptly at 5:00pm. Get there early for the best seats in the house
