Dear Friends
Hello from Germany! Every two years we have been fortunate to take part in the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and we are here again, performing over the weekend with the pianist Götz Payer in a special programme of German part-songs, Benjamin Britten, and the Comedian Harmonists. We then get into teaching mode with a masterclass course in the pretty town of Lübeck. Each of this year’s participating groups has written on our
website news pages, and we are excited by their high calibre.

We end our summer concerts with a return to the glorious surroundings of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, one of 40 concerts in our diary since Easter. We have been recording during that time too: we sang Pachelbel’s Vespers movements with the instrumental group Charivari Agrèable last month - a world premiere recording which will be released next year.

Our 2009/2010 season begins in September with a lot to look forward to, including taking part in a concert at Cadogan Hall, London on September 24th to celebrate the 70th birthday of John McCabe, as well as our own concert at
Cadogan Hall on November 20th which will feature the premiere of “Canti Della Rosa” by Ivan Moody made possible in part by the VIP Friends.

As always, our website has constantly updated information. Written and video blog entries are especially popular with our readers, and the shop continues to provide special offers on CDs, DVDs, and sheet music.

Finally, a note from Tim, whom many of you will now have seen in concert:

Well my first few months as a member of The King's Singers has been quite a ride! It seems like an eternity ago that I was walking out on the stage for the first time at Hereford. Since then my feet really haven't touched the ground. We went straight into our tour of the States - regularly singing in front of 3 to 4 thousand people a night whilst being accompanied by a Pops Orchestra. The numerous numbers of European trips which have been done since February are too numerous to mention but our Scandanavian tour was very special - the people, sights and venues were unique. These tremendous highs sadly came to a low point with the death of my father in May, but the strength and support I received from my other 5 colleagues and manager was truly incredible. This is not forgetting sympathy cards from the groups' promoters/agents across the world, and the kind words from numerous friends of the KS. All of these were wholeheartedly appreciated and really helped me to go out on stage again to sing in the job which my father was so proud of. Thank you all once again.

We are just about to embark on our last tour of the term. We will be starting in France and then off to Germany for some concerts before starting my first Masterclass week in Lubeck. I'm really looking forward to this - helping other groups and catching up with some old friends!
