On the Fringe Episode 1: Fouke Monster Press Release
On the Fringe is a documentary-style episodic television show that is contracted to go on-air in 17 countries and over 120 million homes in Central Europe in the late summer/fall of 2009. The show is hosted by Justin Minor, along with the entire research/film crew of Jordan Hughes, Keith Foster and Joe White.
The show focuses on legends, myths and folklore from around the nation, telling these cryptozoological/paranormal/historical stories. “It’s a road trip to the unexplained…and sometimes the other side.” Say the shows producers, Possum Valley Entertainment.
In their season debut, this crew from Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas traveled to Fouke, Arkansas to explore the World-Renowned “Fouke Monster”.
The crew had a great time in Fouke, but found it hard to get local residents to talk. Only three people, out of 20+ asked to speak on camera, did so. Many told stories off-camera, some of first hand sightings, some of knowing people who’ve had encounters and some who claimed it all a hoax.
“It was pretty much what we expected, as far as claims of encounters and hoaxes, but we didn’t expect to have such a hard time scoring interviews. We called and left a handful of messages with Smokey Crabtree, trying to interview him. We knew you couldn’t make this episode without talking to the virtual “epicenter” of this whole phenomenon. Unfortunately, he never returned our calls.”
“All in all, we had a great time in Fouke. We really enjoyed Texarkana too, which is where we stayed. It ended up being a good debut episode, and hopefully we can come back in season two if we can get more interviews and possibly clearance to come hunt for the creature on its home turf.”
Based on the experience in Fouke, the show traveled northeast to Leflore County, in Southeastern Oklahoma for episode 2. The county boasts over 18 Bigfoot sightings, by far the highest concentration in Oklahoma.
